why do le mans cars run 18+ inch diameter wheels + tires? also they seem to run relativley wide tires in the front, ex. 345s, how does this not interfere with the turning radius?

on f1 cars the wheels are more in the 12-13 inch diameter range, which makes more sense to me than mondo 18" wheels.

It has to do with rules I'm sure.

I'm confused are you talking about the width or the height of the wheels?

I know that it is usually better to have a taller wheel with a very very short tire so there is no sidewall flex.

Not sure about the rest of your question.

lemans wheels are like 18" diameter, f1 wheels are like 12" diameter. the smaller wheels make more sense to me, but i know **** about real racing, and was wondering why this is, because it seems to me that the smaller wheels would be much lighter etc etc etc.
