You have to look at the big picture, Silvia would have been poor selling over here no matter what you say or think, look at the 240sx its US conterpart it was such a crappy sales car for them in 97-98 they had to pull production for US, we (USA) were in a ugly large car buying faze when the 240sx was released and hrough its US tour the simple fact for Nissan was the car doesnt sell, the turbo motor will make it to costly for the US and wont pass federal standards for smog and crash testing in Japanese trim. Skyline on the other hand was also in the same situation that they were not in a market for screaming rocket car and plus their "fast-sports" car was the 300zx which again had POOR sales and was pulled off the market after slowly moving off showroom floors. Nissan did the smart thing and stepped back and said WOW our "sports" cars in US Suck with sales(thats all that matter to all manufactures) we should let them run out and then pull them when they are done. The Skyline again does not / did not pass federal laws for glass, headlights, taillights, tires, smog, and many other federal B.S such as crash testing.Motorex charges Alot for their converted cars but you need to understand a few things it cost them a few million yes MILLION dollars to start this whole Skyline importation and they are gonna need to get their moneys worth while they can cause now they have to compete with people bring in clips and stuffing the motors in 240sx's and whatnot. Motorex has put up alot of time and money and effort they had to Destroy and crash test the skyline to allow them on our shores, they replace all underbumper beams with ones that meet federal standards, they replace the gla$$ they replace headlights and alot of other things go into each Skyline they bring in and sell to you and me. I now have a better feeling about them after learning more about the importing of JDM cars that I do with business partner, we have to bond and put up alot of money even for our wrecked cars or half cuts to come in just so the Feds know we arent screwing them and driving our WRX STi's EVO's Skylines or Silvia's on the street! Im sorry to inform you but there is No leagal way to drive a skyline except through Motorex or that other new company that is tied in with them any way!kevy8up wrote:I have been readin all over the internet about what it takes to get a skyline over here and legal. I must say that its a bunch of BULL. I personally think that motorex is a pos ripp off. I wish someone would have the gutts and money to NOT let motorex be like the only people to legalize. I cant believe that it cost that much.
AND...why the hell hasnt NISSAN got their **** together and said WOW....we should try the skyline and silvia in the US....I mean god damn that pisses me off to no end....ITS like a feeling of, I have been deprived of sex for years.... without the skyline being around. For real....this really aggravates me. I dont want the fukin maxima or altima.....I WANT SKYLINE AND SILVIA.....arrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhh!!!!
I must breath .......so i will settle with a 240sx wit a rb25det wit mods. and ill put a conversion and better suspension on it as well......Im NOT at all sayin the 240sx is bad....its just sloppy seconds for us in the states..........so frustrated....lol
