Your best bet is to run a scan to determine what's really at fault: the transmitter or the receiver.USMC5811 wrote:I have a 2007 M35X and in the middle of a 1200 mile road trip my TPMS light started blinking and the left rear tire started showing ** instead of the PSI, however all other wheels register just fine. When i start my car the TPMS light blinks for a little and then stays on.
I took the car to firestone and got new tires and told the mechanic that if the TPMS was broken to replace it. When i picked up the car he told me that his scan tool was able to pick up the TPMS and read it just fine and that it wasn't broken, but i've driven the car a few hundred miles now and the light is still on.
I have done a ton of research and noticed a few threads that said the 2006-2007 has a receiver in the wheel well but couldn't find any other information regarding this part. Is it possible that the receiver in the wheel well is bad, and if so does anyone know how to check it or what the part number is?
This is true, but to answer the part of your question I know the answer to, yes, there is a receiver. Also, IIRC, one of mine did this a few years ago and I asked my local mechanic to locate and reconnect it if it was disconnected or reseat it if it wasn't. I feel like this fixed a problem similar to yours (specifically, the flashing and staying on with the **, but sometimes it would work, then do this again only when it was really cold), but I also know I had to replace me sensors at some point because, and don't remember if it was because the battery was shot in one of them or I just suspected the battery was going (implying the other action didn't resolve the issue).Costee wrote:Your best bet is to run a scan to determine what's really at fault: the transmitter or the receiver.
