Does anyone know how to take this out?? it seems like the footbrake travels into the fixture when engaged. I need it to be gone because after my recent foot surgery, I have to now use a medical device allowing use of my left foot to operate the accelerator pedal, and that damn piece gets in the way of the operation of the device. Any ideas??

I'm not sure how the footrest is put together on the 99Q but on the 90-96 it's only glued in place on top of the carpet.

Actually, on the G50, there is a substructure on the firewall that can be removed. Why one would want to without installing a clutch, I have no idea.

If you are leaving the parking brake, it needs to be adjusted to keep it off the footrest.

Thanks... but do you have information useful to the main problem of removal?

Removal of the parking brake? Not a good idea! Better to adjust it properly.

On BT-25 of the 2000 FSM is seems to show a similar box for the footrest. Best to explore by taking up the carpet, which will entail removal of some trim.

Quite frankly, I don't get the point if the parking brake remains.

When the hell did I say I wanted to remove the parking brake??? I'M ONLY TALKING ABOUT THE WIDE PLASTIC PIECE ON THE FLOOR, that actually doesn't make contact with the pedal at all if the brake is properly adjusted.

Initial post was a little vague and confusing.

Sorry for trying to help.

I figured it out.... the front face of the footrest is actually a panel that prys open very easily with a pry tool or the like, and then there are two 10mm nuts on two welded bolts holding the rest of it in place. I needed to get a deep socket 10mm tool to get them off... but otherwise pretty simple....
