Anyone have any experience with these tails? http://www.ebay.com/itm/08-10-Altima-2D ... es&vxp=mtr

Is it just the brake lamp that's LED or are the turns modified too? I think I remember reading that only the clear/smoked tails on Ebay had LED turn signals as well but the item description doesn't mention it on any of the ones I looked at. I really want to keep the red OEM look, so if only the clear ones have LED turns is it possible to put in an overlay that'd give it an OEM look?

Also, for anyone that's replaced their tails, is it fairly easy to do? I've never done any mods on my car before but the instructions here look pretty simple.

Turn signals are not led, only the brake lights are. Installation is very easy

I think it's just the brake lamp but I really don't know for sure.

As for removing the tails, it's SUPER easy! You just peel away the trunk carpet lining as if you're getting your spare tire and you'll see little fastener screw type looking things that keep the trunk lining in place. Take those out, pull it back and you'll have some bolts to screw off with a wrench, I can't remember the size, maybe 10mm. After that, the tails pop off and you pull out the bulbs and you're good.

Cool thanks, just ordered the tails. Will definitely get some pics once they're installed.

Just curious, how hard would it be to swap out the turn/reverse bulbs for LED as well? Never done it before, but from the pictures of the back it looks pretty accessible. I suppose I could always give it a try on my old ones first so I don't mess these up.

Changing the reverse lights to led wont be an issue at all. Just make sure u get the right size. Changing the directionals is not as simple as just plugging an led light in. I think u need to actually open the tail light housing up. Not exactly sure. I would like the led turn signals myself but I'm not willing to bust open my tails to do it. I may be wrong tho.. There's some members on here who've successfully done this. Hopefully they can chime in and give u some guidance

^I also recently found a few dead LEDs in my set. Havent looked into fixing them yet. There are two circles of LEDs on each side, an inner circle and outer circle. About 2/3 of the outer circle on my passenger side is dead.

Hm, that's a bit discouraging. Hopefully you can at least open it up fairly easily to replace the ones that die?

I wanna see how they look without tint, but the only difference between these and stock is that the (red) lights are LED?

^Correct. The brake/night time running lights are LED. Reverse, turn signals, and side marker are OEM bulb, you just swap them over.

Oh okay, so this is just someone who did a swap of the OEM tails. Do they give the dotty look like this?
Image
I don't really like that.

No, that is not a swap. That is the product you are buying. Thats exactly how they look. Individual "dotty" LEDs.

^That is an OEM replacement. You will have to swap the OEM bulbs.

I'm just replacing because I've screwed up mine with tinting. There's no way to get it all off, lot of it is stuck inside.
I've grown away from the look of tinted tails, really only like light tinting, which can only be done right by painting, etc (like Eriko has).
Mine are done lightly with NiteShades now, and it's spotty when you get up close. Also darker around the edges where the paint is stuck.

Gotcha. You can get it off with Goof Off if you want to give that a try, but if its on the inside you are SOL. Dont get the Goof Off on your paint job if you do try it.

I don't think that'll even get it out lol, I feel like I sanded a lot of the actual plastic off anyways. I'm just gonna order the replacements tomorrow :) haha

Goof Off will get it out. I took 3 coats of Rustoleum lens tint and 1 coat of clear out with it. Might be able to try a lens restore kit after that.

I don't think there's a way to get to it I mean, and even then it would still be hard, but I already ordered them lol
