LED Question

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I've tried to search the forum before I asked this question. I know that some of you have switched your interior and exterior lights to LED. I have looked for LED replacements for my fogs and am very confused by what I've found. I wanted something that closely resembled the HIDs. Some LEDs I've found show a lumen rating of 480 while others don't show any lumen rating. I was also interested in getting LEDs for my high beam as well. Does anyone have pics of their vehicle with the LEDs running (exterior and interior lighting). I've also seen that with some auto makers that a different wire has to be used or the computer thinks there is an error to the light. One of the reasons I was looking at LED was because it takes a lot less energy to run them versus conventional halogen lights (4.5W vs. 55W).

I have upgraded to LED almost everywhere, but not on the Fogs...yet...at least. I would love for something nice and easy that fits and doesn't look like an add-on. I like the volvo and prius fog lights that look like they have 4 bright LEDs in a square pattern, but in a round assembly..

One of these days I will take some photos, but I have replaced the following:
Exterior:
running lights & License plate lights
Interior:
Hatch, front map lights, passenger lights (on the headliner), door lights and footwell lights were changed to blue.(everything is LED but the visor lights)

I remember reading your post previously about the bulbs you replaced with the LEDs. What I'm looking at is just a "bulb" type to go into the existing housing. I'm not looking at changing the existing assembly at all. I was just curious if there were brands that were better (quality-wise) or have higher light output. I'm not even familiar with the light output rating of the current fogs or other lights. on/in the vehicle.

It's easy breasy. Got to IJdmtoy.com and search under infiniti. I buy all my LEDS from them. they have complete packages and then also single application. Order the LED bulb to replace H8 or H11 - wither will work. I changed all mine as soon as i bought the car.

Very easy - kind of - to install.

The only ones i have left are the stupid little parking lights...then no more yellow.

Im going to be making some custom fogs with 7W leds using lenses. Drop in leds will be a waste of time. Same applies to the interior lights. Nothing beats luxeon stars with a controller.

The led setup will still be dimmer than the 55W halogen setup :(

Hello everyone.

I changed all my bulbs to led lights except for the (low on the bumper) fog lights (are they fogs lights?) who also work as day time running lights. It is still the yellowish eom bulbs and that does not too good. I did a search and found this tread but could not find what I need to know. Can someone tell me what types of LED lights would work there? Thanks

The fog lamps use an H8 type bulb. I haven't looked into getting LEDs for my EX and don't know what brands out there are good, but I believe they do make LED bulbs with an H8 fitment.

I've gotten most of my car LEDs (for previous cars) from superbrighleds, I haven't had any issues from them before.

I got all mine on ebay and so far, only one has died out of 14 lights installed on my EX and 12 on my wife's RX.

Yes they are H8, and i found some on DXextreme, but has anyone here changes these? XIS? If so, what do the light now look like with LEDs? Are the daytime running light still working (the US EX also have DRLs, no)? And the fogs as well?

Thanks

I normally buy my parking light LED here. BTW, the H8 they offer are CREE LED.

Thanks for the link. Their bulbs look to be top notch. I got 20 festoon bulbs for $10. But they don't look anywhere as robust and well made as the vleds ones. Will have to consider them in the future.
