Hello once again Nicoclub

I know that there probably are a million zillion threads that cover this, but for the sake of searching for them I just decided to make my own post  . I recently purchased some LED light bulbs for the interior of the Coupe from superbrightleds.com. I ordered some blue LED's to replace the original light bulbs in the map lights, dome lights and step lights. The bulbs worked as promised and since I have had them installed for a couple of months now, they have never given any problems. But after installing them, it seems that the bulb will be dimly lit with the map/dome light switch in the door position, and for some reason the step lights just stay on all the time. So my question would be to anyone who has done a mod like this to possibly explain why the map/dome lights are dimly lit and how can I turn the step lights off when the door is closed, I would like to leave all my lights in the door position on the switches so when I open the doors all my lights come on, but since the lights are dimly lit and my step lights never come off, its like not a big issue, just wanna know if I can do something to possibly just fix it. I have read about resistors on the bulbs but I really am clueless about that, so are there any other ways to stop the bulbs from glowing

These are the Step Lights which stay lit blue when doors are closed

And the Map & Dome Lights stay dimly lit when in the door switch

Thanks for the help :)

ok... the interior/exterior has a lot of info on this and theres MANY threads... BUT....

The LEDs use so LITTLE power, that just the regular current flowing thru the wires in OFF position is enough to have them slightly illuminated... Regular bulbs need more juice to light up...

How bright is it?? Mine have a soft slight glow

Yea you just need to wire in a resistor for the circuit in front of the LEDs that will consume the excess residual power.

It is weird, i have the same led's and they DON'T stay on, but on my buddys 2.5 they DO stay on very dim. For the one behind the driver i wired a resistor into it and it turned off.

yes there are many many threads on this lol
yeh it not a bright glow, its a really faint glow
but i want them to completely come off when it is on the door modes on my interior switches
talking about wiring a resistor, how would you go about doing that?

hey keller
the lights that you bought wat type of bulb are they i bought the WLED-x5 for my map/step lights
and for my dome light i purchased the 3022-x4

im wondering if superbrightleds.com make the bulbs possibly with a resistor on it to eliminate the lights from being dimly lit, do you guys think that u can purchase the bulbs like that?

My door and trunk bulbs were WLED-x4 90 degree, my map lights were WLED-xHP6 wedge, dome light was the same you got. hope this helps.

Splice the cable going to the bulb and connect a resistor in series

bulbs that have integrated resistors are also available

WLED Miniature Wedge Base bulbs

T3-1/4 (#194/168) filament bulbs found in many automobile and water craft applications. Built in current limiting resistor and diode to protect the LED from reversed polarity installation. 12 Volt DC operation.

the description of the bulb that i bought on superbrightleds.com
if the bulbs have a built in resistor, how come my lights are still on?
