Ok I'm trying to wire some red LED strip lights to my radio backlights. I want them to only come on when I turn on my headlights. Any suggestions, I'm a first time user so I just went to posting instead of the search bar.

Welcome to Nico....
You should ALWAYS use the search bar, especially since you are new as most things have been asked before.

When you say your radio backlights, you need to clarify what you mean....

The "simple" way to wire something to go on with the headlights is to piggyback off the fuse that is tied to the headlights

Well I mean the lights that turn on at night when you flip your headlights one. Not the dash lights where your speed is, but the ones that come on to light up your radio buttons and controls.

Do you have dashlights during the day?

Yes for the speedometer and all gages it's on during the day. But when it comes to the radio during the day they only thing on is the LED screen and the temp display.

I'm not an alty guy, but I'd suggest piggybacking the relay that's used when you turn you'r lights on.

Sounds good to me. Is there a DIY on it here in the forums that you know of.

Not that I know of... run the wire behind the dash, and check your fuse box for the fuse that is to the headlights, wire it to that.

I would suggest also running an inline switch. You may think having the LED strips on at all times when your headlights are on is what you want, but I guarantee there will be a time when you want them off and wont be able to if driving at night.

Where are you putting them?

Funny you say that. At work today that's what I was thinking about. And to me it's a good Idea just to have a kill switch like you said
