I have led switchbacks in the front of my car and they blink fast which I understand so I went to add led bulbs in the brake lights and now they blink slow but all my lights blink including my parking and other turn signal. I put a resistor on them and they did they same thing. Then I took out the led brake bulbs and they still do the same. Any ideas?

Get rid of the load resistor(s) and replace your flasher unit with an electronic flasher. You can get this electronic flasher from Advanced Auto Parts for $10.39 before tax if you order online using discount code M20 and pick-up in store.

You'll most likely need to remove the lower instrument panel cover to access the flasher unit easier, but this isn't terrible. See this post for details.

This is where the flasher unit is:

It's the little black box in the center of the picture.

This has the lower panel removed. Is there anyway to do it without that?

And is the unit that triggers the door lights in this pic? I forget what it's called

Yeah, 04LEMASS says it's possible to swap it out without removing any panel. I've never tried it.

Smart entrance control unit? Nah, it's not in that pic. See EL-35 for its location in your Pathfinder.

I replaced the flassher on my '01. It's tight, but you can reach up there and pop it off, It's not a standard mount that you can get at the auto parts store.
I ended up mounting a parts store flasher to plastic panel below the flasher.

I bought one electronic flasher for LED. If I use this flasher, will it affect the regular turn signal bulb operation? I haven't bought the rear turn signal LED bulbs yet. It's not so easy to find a bright enough LED but still not too big size so it fits in the housing.

I have regular lamps in front turn signals and leds in rear turn signals. My turn signals flash ok with the led compatible flasher unit. They flash a little bit faster than with the original flasher unit, but not "hyper" flash.

Thank you for the reply. did you take panel off? I tried not to take panel off first but seems no way I could find the original flasher.

I removed mine today i took off the entire panel. All you have to do is take off the kick pannel by the door it has one bolt and clips then that will reviel a screw take that out then on the side closer to the radio theres another screw pop that off and give it a tug, oh and remove the undercover of the steering wheel 2 screwes then u will see a metal brace type thing ur looking for a black little box take a screwdriver pop it off and plug the harness into your new flasher. I mounted mine to the metal part with gorilla tape. Probably took me a total if 25 mins from start to finish

Thanks a lot I will do it next weekend. You mounted your new flasher NOT in the same place because of its size or else?

It isnt the same mounting type. I just left the old one monted there and taped the other one to the metal. Brace. Hardest part of the whole thing is getting the screwdriver in there to pop off the wire harness haha

That was good thinking just leaving the original mounted! I popped mine off and put it with my spare bulbs and stuff...hopefully I won't forget what I did with it if I ever want to find it.

I too just taped the new one onto the metal brace.

Tip: if u are trying to figure out which is the flasher relay, turn your ignition untill you can turn on the flashers...you can hear it and feel it clicking.

-I needed to remove the plastic same as edogg mentions. Some folks may be able to get to it without though...

OK, very interesting. As Camelfilter said his flasher flashes a bit faster. I tried to open the flasher plastic cover but the locking tabs stopped me. Otherwise I might be able to find where the adjustable time constant is.

I removed the panel but still have difficulty finding the flaser unit. Is it on the right side of steering wheel, if I sit in driver seat and look at the footwell? There are a few connectors but nothing looks like a flasherunit.

I turned on turn signal. Clicking sound seems to come from everywhere maybe due to echo?

Start the flasher flashing. Put your finger on anything you think might be it. You'll feel it. IIRC, it's black and has three wires going
to it.

Wow it's been nearly two years since I tried locating this flasher. Today I encouraged myself and finally found it behind the fuse panel/box. The flasher is in a very difficult place. I forced it out and taped the electronic flasher around the wire bundle, then removed the unnecessary 6 Ohms power resistors across each LED. It work well except I noticed that depending on when I return the turn signal, the new flasher sometimes clicks one more time than the LED.
