Lower voltage LED's are a bit cheaper, You could go with alot of lower voltage LED's and wire them in a series to achieve 12V. You shouldn't worry about the current draw from LED's, you should be able to wire it up to one of the interior lighting circuits. If you wanta do it the right way, get a relay and wire it into the dash light circuit, or any other circuit that goes on when the light switch is on, then run your main power from the cigarette lighter, which should be able to handle the current from the LED's. This way your LED's go on when you turn your lights on, makes it nice to have it integrate in with the stock switch.
