So I installed interior and exterior LED's today.

Fogs, Park, Turn Signal, Reverse, Front Dome, Rear Dome, Courtesy. Resistors for the turns to stop hyper flashing.

I disconnected the negative on the battery and every once in a while I'd reattach it to make sure the lights I had installed were working. Especially after wiring the resistors.

So now I'm popping an SES light. I'm wondering if anyone else who has done an LED conversion has popped an SES light after disconnecting the negative battery terminal. I disconnected it because I read that you could blow fuses if you didn't.

So I called Nissan and asked. They said the SES light is only triggered by a failure in the emissions system. I feel like after using the search feature on this site, that's not necessarily true. I've got the Injen MR technology SRI and the Greddy Spectrum Elite exhaust. Both of them are on there nice and snug and the MAF is in there properly. It could very well be a poorly timed failure of an O2 sensor, but I'm thinking with being connected and disconnected a couple of times, the electrical system might be slightly upset with me.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I dont think that constant connect/disconnect would trip an O2 sensor but who knows. Bring it to Pep Boys and have them pull the code.

Is Nissan right though? Is the SES light strictly emissions? I don't think the constant connect/disconnect cause an O2 failure. I think it was either poorly timed and happened as I was finishing the install or the constant connect/disconnect made the car a little upset. I might drop by advance auto and see if they can pull the code. They're right around the corner. I'll wait a few days first to see if it goes away on its own.

^Not sure on that SES question. You might be able to find the info in the FSM.

A lot of the codes that a SES light will throw are Emmissions related, not sure if its strictly emissions since theres so many but from what i remember most are. But this is a bit common, people have mentioned before that when they unplug their negative the SES light will come on. Some have just unplugged it again, left it unplugged for a while plugged it back in and then it never came back.
I wouldnt worry really since it could be as dumb as having your gas cap not fully tightened (feel free to check) also this could help if you feel like doing some work.

Its so weird. I tried that. Am I supposed to take my foot off the accelerator as soon as it turns off? If I hold it for 10 seconds, it flashes 5 times and then stays solid again. I floor it 5 times, wait 7 seconds, floor it. It flashes 5 times. I let off the accelerator. It stays solid. :(

So after finding a stop watch and being a bit more precise, (not counting 1 Mississippi 2 Mississippi), I finally pulled a code. I pulled the code 0603, which is described as this.

P0603 - Internal Control Module Keep Alive Memory Error.

So basically what I gathered from that is that I disconnected the battery too many times in a short period while testing installs and the car got mad at me. I might go get Advance Auto Parts to erase it tomorrow for me. If the code pops again, I'll have to reprogram the ECM according to what I'm reading online, which I think is just unhooking the battery for about 20 minutes and then I should be good.

Any further light on the subject now that I know the code would be great. Thanks for the input guys!

Yep, just your battery being disconnect "irregularly." Like your already planning you can just get it erased or unplug the battery for a bit. Glad that worked for ya. Good luck!

Every time you reconnect the battery the ECU experiences a " electrical surge", doing that repeatedly is what gave u the problem. good thing they have safety measures :)! Just try disconnecting it for 15min or so and it may go away, if not the code will clear it's self :)
