I have a '01 pathfinder. My LED clock would intermittently go off....I tapped it gently a couple times and it would come back on. Now it seems to be off for good. When the clock was going on and off, I know it was still keeping time because I accidentally pushed the hour button and when the clock came back on..it was an hour later than it should have been.

I'm not an expert in car repairs by any means...but I'd like to fix this without taking it in...if possible.

Is this as easy as pulling the clock cover and replacing the bulbs? I've read some of the other posts about gently prying up the cover with a cloth-covered flathead....is that applicable to mine?

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

If it's anything like my 01 QX4, which from my limited experience on this forum says it is, you can get a cheap tool called a panel puller(screw driver handle with angled forked pry bar on the end) and just pry out the entire top area of the dash with the clock and 2 air vents. you want to place the panel puller where the plastic edge of the vents meets the dash. Once you have that out you can disconnect the the wire that powers the clock and remove the 4 screws that mount the clock to that whole console or whatever it's called. At least this is what I had to do on my car to replace the bulbs in my analog clock, like I said I'm not sure if it's the same process for the pathfinder, but I would bet it's pretty close. For my clock I had to take apart the housing in order to access the 2 $31 light bulbs inside. To completely replace my clock it cost about $350 from the dealer, ouch!

Hope this helps!

Thankyou for your response. I did get the dash off and the clock out, however, there isn't any light bulbs that I can see.

So it looks like I'm going to have to purchase a whole new clock. Does anyone have recommendations for online retailers on where to purchase the clock .... other than the dealer?

I have called a couple dismantlers however, no luck yet.

Thanks

That's almost the same price I paid just for the 2 bulbs for my clock, so it might be a decent deal.

Hi, I had the same problem with my 2001 Pathfinder clock.....I took it apart and looking closely at the printed circuit board, in the lower right hand corner was a broken solder joint........I re-soldered it and believe it or not....it works!!!! I won't be checking in this forum often...so if you have any [email protected]

This is a fairly common problem with LED digital clocks of Japanese auto makers. Nissan, Toyota, and Subaru all have clock modules that show similar symptoms over a period of time.

If you can remove the clock yourself, you can send it in to be repaired at the following website: http://www.subaru-clock.com . He does a really good job of refurbishing your original unit for a dirt cheap price.

Thanks for posting the link to your service - however, it's kind of weird that you refer to yourself in the third person....

Ya know it's okay if you say you offer a service. I've offered up my services of fulfilling other members girlfriends dreams multiple times on this forum. It hasn't gotten me any business but I wasn't deceiving at all.

Best of luck Mr Clock,

Billy
