Me and my room mate split $1500 to live right next to the ghetto. At least we get a 3 bedroom. The same amount of money might get a single bedroom condo in south Orange County. Yeah... Cali sucks for more than just gas prices.

I have a 1700 sqft home in a golf course community and my mortgage is only $850 a month. How do you people living out west afford it? I have seen on the internet that small 1000 sqft homes in California sell for like $300,000.

I'm glad I live in Indy where everything is relatively inexpensive.

I'm a computer consultant, so I pull about $3600 a month after taxes. I'm really getting over living in California though. I went to visit my great uncle who lives outside of Milwaukee. He has a huge (3000+ sq ft) house, and so much land that he needs a John Deere lawn tractor to mow it all. He paid something like $300,000 for it. Everyone in his neighborhood had at least half an acre. If such a neighborhood even existed in southern California (which it doesn't), those would be 10+ million dollar homes.
