I will start off by saying- I love my new 2014 Rogue SL AWD.

I love the way it handles, and drives.. the power isn't an issue for me because I was driving a Honda civic before so I was used to a small engine. I don't need the power but wanted AWD and more ground clearance living in the North east. on this site I have seen there are some issues with the CVT that scare the crap out of me, but I didn't hear anything about this until after the purchase... so, oh well. sometimes crap happens. lol

People have mentioned other little issues like no glove box light.. the one thing I am surprised no one has mentioned is that although the seats are VERY comfortable they did an odd thing with the leather. The inside side of the seat, but the middle partition is not leather. Has anyone else noticed this and been a little bothered by it. The interior of this vehicle is beautifully appointed but this is the one issue I just scratch my head about- the could have put leatherette or vinyl of the same color of the leather- put instead they put this cloth that is black and darker than the charcoal leather. Any thoughts on what the heck Nissan was thinking?? Looking at the stock photos for the rogue it looks like leather on the side of the seat, but I did check the other SL's on the dealers lot to see if this was in all of them or just a mistake in mine. From what I can see.. it is across the board. Any thoughts?

Stop killing animals for their skin. It's the 21st century and it's no longer necessary for human survival.

Like I said, they could have done it in LEATHERETTE- which last I checked was a synthetic fabric, but thanks for your shot at either humor, which fell short- or representing PETA.

Actually it was neither. Sorry you're disappointed that the highest trim level of the cheapest cheap SUV that you bought was made cheaply.

easy guys. :gapteeth:  dont forget EVERYONE is politically and socially charged these days. so even something as simple as real leather can be deemed offensive to someone. its cool. we all have our beliefs and idea's.

anyway, almost NO ONE offers real leather anymore. when they say "leather trimmed" or "leather appointed" = that means only a few trim pieces are actual leather. heck with Mercedes, REAL leather is a package you have to purchase extra. otherwise you get pleather.

did nissan use crap pleather? probably. BUT NOT AS BAD AS FORD DOES... MY GOD, WITH FORD ITS LIKE SITTING ON GRANDMA'S PLASTIC WRAPPED COUCHES lol

That is what I am getting at! It isn't even crap pleather... it is a cotton nylon side piece. lol. I could deal with pleather leatherette vinyl.. as long as it matched the "leather appointed." lol I guess either way I will deal with it.... just scratch my head and wonder. lol

I'm humbled by this, I really am, and I totally appreciate it. But since I loathe PETA, I had to change it to something more appropriate.

I have memories of visiting people who had plastic covered furniture in the early 1980s. Ugh.

I think they did it for wear purposes and it doesnt bother me. If you think about it the sides of the seats will rub against the door and console as the seat is adjusted. I cant imagine the seat being adjusted enough to cause excessive wear but you never know.

Don't get it wrong I knew it was there when I bought it. It certainly wasn't a deal breaker. Just wondered why out of all the little things people post about it - ie a light in the glove box - the radio issues some have had - no one has mentioned that anywhere . I started to wonder if mine was the only one like that and even went back to check a couple others out at the dealership lol - sorry if I came across grumpy earlier.

no biggie, i honestly think they did it for wear purposes. i have seen many leather seats where they are ripped and wore to hell on the sides.
