Good Afternoon everyone!! My seats (driver's) are starting to peel. Have anyone else had this problem with their Y33? At this poing, I don't think there is anything I can do to fix it. If so, please let me know. I've even stopped putting leather treatment because I don't know if that's the cause.

I would say that it is normal for an older car. The seats on my G50 started doing that a long time ago, I just got some nice leather seat covers and they work nice.

In Y33, the seat is a mix of leather and vinyl. On the driver side, the side trim on the seat and backrest are all vinyl as well as the rear portion of the seat. They are the ones that really get worn out. I've had mine repaired and re-colored by a leather seat professional for @ $400. All of the vinyl sections were replaced. The re-coloring perfectly matched the other seats.

Thanks for the information!! I can't believe I didn't think of a upholstery shop. $400...was that for both seats? The side trim facing the passagener and vice versa for the passagener seat is exactly what is peeling on both of my front seat. My armrest on the driver's door is peeling badly also. They want $192 from the dealer to replace it, but I might get that repaired also. I'm installing LED interior/license lights in my car next week so I need to get the seats fixed asap.

My driver's seat is cracked. I think the previous owner was a cop. It's worse on the left (possibly a shoulder holster?)

The guy has been in the business for a while and restores car seats for the Jaguar car club in the San Francisco Bay Area. He also restores car seats for classic cars. He replaced all the vinyl parts with leather and then his partner (an independent contractor) did the coloring. Work was only done on the driver side. The rest of my leather seats are still in good condition as I use Lexol every quarter. I tried Zaino's Leather-in-a Bottle but the 'leathery' smell was just too much.

I remember before doing the leather job, the OEM leather from dealer was $500 for the seat and another $500 for the backrest for a total of $1000.

im not lying..... Id just give up and go to a nice chop shop, and have em redo my seats with the smae color, but just vinyl.. i know a guy who did my olds mobile front seats for 250.... Im my climate, leather is hard to keep up if your car isnt under a garage. If its parked outside that 102F sun will eat up ur leather.!

Vinyl? talk about a downgrade! fine for a crappy oldsmobile, but inappropriate for a Q45-cheap,nasty,non-breathing ball sweating garbage that even is extinct on honda civics and other entry level cars today Ghetto-fabulous!

call it what you want, but in my back seats, it looks good. I may reason with you for the front seats, but my back seats, I dont care about.. No one sits in it. No kids, no eating, no nothing.... My lil boy rides in my car maybe once or 2wice a month. thats it. Otherwise, i got a chevy for it. Call it what you want, cheap, ghetto, and whatever else, but hey, 500-750 for my back seat, and it looks new and wears by the sun? Or 200-250 for the back seat and it looks new and wears by the sun. your choice. To each its own. Im not saying anyone is right here, im just saying my 2 cents.! Why am i even defending myself.... my seats are still leather and still look new and smell new. wont be replacing for at least 5 years..!

I understand where you are coming from about the money and all, but I'm not about to put vinyl in my car. I love my car to much to downgrade. Good thing is that I'm blessed with a great paying job out of college and money really isn't an issue. Not saying I'm going with the most expensive price, I still want to get a couple of prices in my area and pay for leather.

I would be very interested in where you got leather seat covers and how much they cost. Thanks
