I just noticed the sides on the front seats on my 2016 SL are fabric. Kind of chintzy. I assume they are all that way and this wasn't just a defect.
I'm only talking about the sides that face the center console.

I assumed they were mostly pleather. Still, couldn't they be *all pleather* ?

It's just an annoying cost-cutting measure by Nissan to an otherwise great seat. They could've at least tried with better cloth on that side. It catches my fingers sometimes when I'm fiddling with my seat belt.

Cloth will not squeak against the plastic console or seatbelt buckle. Leather can (and probably will)

Our 2015 is the same. I figured it was because you don't look at that side climbing in, and they figured it might take you awhile to notice.

Yeah... at least until some time after you've driven it off the lot :-)

Its just to avoid creaking of having leather move against plastic center console, very normal thing for car makers to do. Hell my father in laws 2010 Cadillac DTS has the same thing done to his leather seats!
