I have a 08 Altima coupe with leather seats and only 1500 miles. The leather is already rippling on one side of the drivers seat, right where my wallet is. I have had two previous cars with leather, one for 4 years, one for 10 years, with no asymetrical seat wear. I have wear now after 1500 miles, which is approx 1 month of driving for me.

Anyone else have this problem ? I saw a Altima coupe in a parking lot and looked in the window and noticed the same issue, so I know it isnt just my George Costanza wallet (Seinfeld reference).

Has anyone complained to the dealer about this ?

And i thought i was the only one with a pain in the butt wallet causing this issue.

Using some leather conditioner a few times seems to have softened up the leather a little and slightly cured it. It is still not perfect, but its better then it was leading to be.

There is a whole topic about this. Its definitely worth finding. Some of the comments about the right cheek wallet imprint are pretty funny. It seems a lot of people are having this problem. Im scared to get leather seats in my coupe but its already ordered and I got them. I guess I will have to really condition it and baby it right when I get the car so hopefully its not as bad as some cars here. I had a GMC Jimmy with leather and that held up for years with no problem at all. Do you have heated leather seats? Im guessing that could be a main cause. The wallet on the right side might cause the leather to stretch unevenly so it causes imprints and maybe tears a little on that side. I dont own this car yet but from my past cars thats my guess. Dont take my word on that I have one bit of advice for you. Stop wearing your wallet in your back pant pocket!!! It makes you sound old Thats something my father and grandfathers do. I think everyone in the other thread with the same problem wear their wallet in their right back pocket too. It also causes back problems in the future so that should be a good reason not to have it back there. Plus pickpockets can easily get to it I keep my wallet in my right front pocket, keys in the left front pocket and phone in my jacket pocket. How much stuff do you carry that you need to use the back storage?I know this is immature but I just have to say it becuase it cracks me up just thinking about it. What if you pass gas while your wallet is in your back pocket. If its there everyday and you fart often enough isnt it going to smell pretty raunchy

This is really funny cause I thought it was just me. If you look at my seat, the left side where my left "cheek" would be is fine. Smooth as silk. But the right side, it's all ripply! here's the funny thing. I don't put my wallet in any of my back pocket, and if I do, it's on the left side. I'll have to post a pic of this and see if you guys are experiencing the same wear patterns.

I'm having the same problem. I'm a chick, so I don't carry a wallet in my back pockets at all. Mine is also wrinkling where my right cheek sits. I thought it might be from the weight, but I'm only about 115, so I really don't think that's it. I hope there is someway to have it fixed.

I like to be optimistic about things like this. It makes the car more "mine". If anyone else ever sits in the driver's seat, it just won't feel right to them. It's kind of like a fingerprint... everyone's imprint is unique!

i believe everyone with the leather is having this problem. if we all start emailing and calling nissan and bringing our cars in i'm sure they will recall and fix the problem. i'm pretty sure it has something to do with the electric movement because the pass seat still looks perfect on mine.

Does my right cheek look fat in this seat?

HAHA, WOW! I was laughing so hard reading this thread, because I thought I was the only one with right buttchick problem. I have only 2K miles on it, and it is all ripply. If I take it to the dealer, will they do something about it? In the meanwhile, I am searching for a good looking seat cushion.

I don't remember who it was, but someone mentioned the imprint to their dealer. Apparently the service dept. guy "caressed" the imprint. Who was it that had that happen? I was rolling when I read about it!!

After many tests being done, Nissan engineers have determined that the best fix to solve this 'wallet imprint' issue is to take the wallet out of your pocked before you get into your car.
