Well done, Slasher. You are doing it proper by letting the leather warm up and it truly does help the pores soak up the conditioner. When I steam, I mainly concentrate on the perforated areas because sweat, dirt, my g/f lotions, and lord-knows-what-else can easily clog them. There is a video below, but even if you don't have his type of steamer, just use the steamer to shoot the steam at the seat surface, then wipe it immedicately with a
microfiber towel - regular towels don't grab and hold dirt the way the microfibers can. Then use whichever conditioner you like. I'm a die-hard Griot's Garage fan (as you can see in my photos, LOL), but long as you use premium products like your Leatherique, you will love the results.

I always tell peeps if your leather care product is selling for $5 at the parts shop, its likely NOT very good quality and you're wasting your efforts.
