Can the dealer fix the leather coming loose from the arm rest? It just pulled out for some reason. I just hope this doesn't happen to the rest of the cars leather arm rest. And also I noticed the Hatchback door rattles sometimes I hope the dealer can find the problem to that as well and fix it.

Hopefully this isn't a common problem.

Not a common problem that I've heard. Could be from too much heat/sun if you park outside a lot.

Would check with dealer to see if its covered under warranty. They should be able to fix or replace the panel.

If not an upholstery shop should be able to fix.

I didn't know leather was an option in the Versa. You sure this isn't the vinyl?

There's a convenience package with leather wrapped steering wheel but the arm rests are vinyl or some sort of synthetic, not leather. Not that I know of.

He's right. I just was messing with mine yerstarday cause I am painting my interior and the arm rests aren't leather.

Mine started coming up along the crack where the arm rest meets the door. We've had some insanely hot days and I still don't have my windows tinted yet, so I assume it's from the heat. It's only about the size of a quarter but it still drives me nuts. I'm tempted to put a spot of glue on the end and shove it back down along the crack with a blade or something.

The leather on my driver's side armrest is also coming up and my dealer refuses to fix it, insisting that I pulled it off. I am interested to know if anyone else on here has this problem?

Also, my driver's side window pillar started to fall off and I had to fight and fight with them to get them to fix it. Nothing was even broken, just a clip thingy.

Be careful with any cables in your car. I shoved my GPS cable in some crevices and they insist that I tore this driver's side pillar off along with the drivers side kick plate that came off.

Has anyone else had problems with these panels coming off, either?

Very interested in finding out more about this. Went to the dealership today, who will still not fix the armrests (I've now noticed they are ALL coming up). At the dealership I even saw unsold cars that had the armrest material coming up.

Perhaps their glue is not strong enough for my hot, humid, TX weather.

The dealership has at least agreed to take pictures and send them to Nissan to see if they will authorize a repair. Either way, I'm mad that I've had to fight this hard just to get basic things on this car fixed.

If unsold cars at the dealership are doing this you would think they would be prompt to fix it. Who want's to buy a new car that seems like its already been used? I sure wouldn't...

Good luck on your fight with the dealership. I hope you come out on top!

Also could you maybe post up a picture so we all have an idea of what you are talking about? :D

Thanks! The General Manager showed no interest in seeing this unsold car with the same problem. He just said he would get his service guy (or whoever) to take pictures of my car on Monday

I will post pictures up soon. Of both my car, and the brand new one on the lot.

Wow, sounds like you might be in a tight spot with that problem. Good luck anyways and let us know the outcome of the situation.

Alright, here are my pictures.

The first is my car. This is on all 4 doors, the worst of the images is the driver's arm rest.

And in the 2nd picture, you can see that this UNSOLD BRAND NEW VERSA is starting to have the same problem

Nope, the dealership insists that i tore it up. I'm fighting it though and the General Manager is going to take some pictures and try to get approval from Nissan.

Went to the dealer today to talk to the General Manager again, but my original service tech. guy walked through and told me they decided to replace my door panel after someone else came in with the same problem. I then showed him that all of the armrest materials were coming up and told them about the unsold car of theirs that had the same problem.

The service manager called her Nissan rep. and instead of them replacing all 4 of my door panels (which is required just for that small piece of material), she is waiting for a response from her Nissan rep. They don't to replace all 4 of them just to risk the 4 replacements having the same problem. It looks like the vinyl was cut too short.

So... they finally acknowledged the problem, yet I received no apology for the accusations. At least now I can feel comfortable bringing my car back to Baker-Jackson Nissan without feeling as if the entire service departments thinks I'm a liar.

They took pictures of all the problems + I guess my car's serial number and I guess they will send it in to Nissan. I'm glad this is finally getting in motion.

If anyone else is having the problem, I would definitely bring your Versa into Nissan instead of waiting. I figure if tons of people are having the problem Nissan will get things taken care of faster (maybe?). If you don't notice the problem now, just push down on the material and see if you can see a cut in the fabric against the door, indicating that it's starting or will start to come up.

Good luck to everyone else with this problem and thanks to everyone for your wishes of good luck!

I am glad to see that this issue is getting resolved. I don't like it when dealerships try and make things your fault just so they don't have to replace them (even though they end up looking stupid).

Good luck with the rest of your journey on waiting and installation. Seems like they will be taking care of everything from here. :D

That sounds more reasonable than just heat and humidity. None of our Versas are garaged, and my daughter and I work in SC where it gets to the upper 90's with plenty of sun throughout the summer. Neither of us have seen this problem in our two and three year old Versas.

I noticed mine is coming up more now along the far left edge as you're facing the driver's door. Still no sign of damage on the other doors however. I found that you can flatten it back out though fairly easily. Take a credit card and start at the edge of the armrest. Then, in "sweeping" motions, push the material towards the door, and then push it back down in the crack where the armrest meets the door using the card. It's just a temporary fix, but when I get some time within these next few days, I'm going to take some fabric glue to the armrest. If this doesn't work, then it's off to the dealer for me.

I'd be careful with the fabric glue. I'd try the dealer first. As you can see from my experiences, they will find ANYTHING to not replace something. "You destroyed your armrest with fabric glue ON YOUR OWN"

On your other armrests though, just put your arm down on it and push down. If it has the problem, you can see a little cut near the middle of the vinyl against the door.

It looks like they aren't too excited about fixing these because there is no "armrest" part. It's the whole inner door panel that has to be replaced.

You might not want to try and glue it yourself because if you glue it and than it doesn't work when Nissan inspects it they are gonna be like, "Hmm where did this glue come from?" and than BAM! Voided warranty.

That's a good idea, if it's broke don't fix it. Bring it to the dealer and make them fix it for free under warranty.

zach, did you get my e-mail?

Yeah I thought about the warranty thing, but I went against it. I work 6 days a week and I just don't have the time or energy to deal with the dealership and a door panel that might eventually have the same problem. Fabric glue worked like a charm though. I did the credit card trick and then put some glue down in the crack. When I try to pull on the armrest material, it doesn't budge. Looks like it's stuck for good. I'll get some pictures up when I get the chance.

And yeah, I got your email. Sorry man! I've been meaning to respond but my schedule has been crazy as of late. It's looking like I won't be able to meet up with you on that day unfortunately. I'll be out of town for work for a couple weeks. My girlfriend just bought a Cube though, so that would have been nice to bring along. Maybe the next meet!

That's cool. You're both invited to the next meet in September! Have her sign up right away along with yourself, we're looking forward to have a Cube in the club.

Finally got my armrests fixed today. Their "fix" was to replace my SL armrests (with extra padding) with standard Versa armrests. Not too happy about it, still trying to decide to complain or just be happy with it.

go back and complain to the dealership they screwed up on ordering your panels and ordered the wrong ones the tech installing the door panel should have caught the problem before install.

Well, I'm wondering if their "fix" for the bad SL armrests is just to replace them with the standard armrests. I am right that the SL had extra padding in the armrests, right?

yes they did but the main factor is does the door panel fabric matches the sl seat fabric if not then they installed wrong panels if so then factory has done something else to alleviate the problem
