Leather Dye, anyone try it?

i was hanging out with some friends and saw a black bmw 335xi with red interior and my god it was beautiful. Just out of curiousity, has anyone ever tried using leather dye to change the colors of their leather seats for a color change or maybe 2 tone color(like black outside and red inside)? i mean i googled pictures and it "looks" great but i dunno about reliability etc..
