Being very OCD, I have lost all patience with my door inserts coming untucked. I tried to glue the driver door insert back in and am not happy with how it looks. Now, my rear driver side insert is coming out. Honestly, I would rather just find a way to get them properly reglued. It would require the door to be taken apart to a certain degree. If not, I would even look into getting custom door inserts. While they aren't really needed, I could only hope that they would be glued properly. Being OCD, I need it fixed somehow. Any suggestions?

Removing the inner door assembly is pretty easy.

There are a few screws below the door. 1 or 2 on the door insert (behind door handle and lever) and then you just start gently prying it off.

Pictures would mean a 1000 words.

The first two pictures show off the two driver side doors that are coming undone. The second two show the doors on the passenger side that are fine. Obviously, if I can find a way to get inside and glue them back properly, I would want to do that.

I'm not positive on this, but this would be my suggestion.

Remove one of the doors inserts via the method I described. Once it's removed (be sure not to rip out any wires), check to see how the leather inserts are fastened. I want to say that they are held in place by clips of some sort, but there is a possibility that there are screws too.

Once you remove them, be sure to use the proper type of adhesive. I've learned that super glue and expoxy have a time and place. Usually not anywhere near fabric lol.

Has anybody actually taken apart their door? I seem to think you wouldn't be able to access where the leather is held from behind. Can anyone verify that there are clips and that there is a solution to this problem?

I have taken them apart to fix this same thing...AND sadly, taking the doors apart just shows that they are glued in and held in place with pressure once the door is put together.

You would have to replace the whole door cover to be perfect. Now, since you (and I) dont want to do this the only other option is to glue it.

What glue have you used?

I did this once before with 3M Super Strength glue (91). It held up for about 8 months. When I lived in AZ for the summer it melted the glue and it seperated again. The glue was great except that it liquified in the summer heat of Arizona.

I'm going to be redoing this with the 3M adhesive that they carry at autostores, it is supposed to be the same thing but heat resistant.

I first used 3M, but it only held for a couple of months. I then used a heat resistant super glue and it has held up the best, by far. The only down side is it dries hard, so you don't want to use too much.
