Leather Color Preference?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hiya,

I'm looking at new and used EX35s, and would love to know if anyone has lived with the chestnut-colored interior for a while. It seems a nice change from the usual black or tan. Are you pleased with how it has aged, how it holds up to daily grime?

I've had mine for a year and have a little over 12,000 miles on it. I fell in love with the chestnut color the first time I saw it and still feel the same way.
It does not show dirt at all, which is nice because sometimes one of my german shepherds likes to greet me inside my car before I have a chance to get out. It still looks like new, no cracks, no marks or scratches.

Nice. We have pugs, and they are MURDER on black interior. My Lexus is as close to the color of desert dirt inside and out as I could get, and I am ready for a change. I'll go take a look at it on the lot - last time thru I got to see a Java color on another model, which is nice, but just too dark for me. Thanks!

I went to take a look at the Chestnut. I really like it. It's only available here on the Journey AWD in combo with Black Currant exterior which, as a non-washer, I think isn't the color for me. Back to White/Stone, Platinum Graphite/Stone.

well actually, 2008 and 2008 only you could get Platinum Graphite/Chestnut. But good luck finding a car with it, there were only like 4-6 ordered that way. 2009 and 2010 could only get it in black, not even black currrant.

Chestnut is the best interior color and steps up the luxury factor by a factor of 10.

I have a 2008 Black/Chestnut with over 21K miles, almost 2 years old. I have the Elite Leather package, which supposedly has different seat inserts from the base leather that year, but I could never spot the difference. My understanding (others will have to verify) is that the Elite Leather is now the standard kit.

As others have said, the leather still looks new. The only place that shows some wear is the front of the driver's seat under the thigh area. A dullness started there that I was able to restore with Lexol to a like-new condition. I doubt that was a function of the color, though.

I too had a Lexus RX, a 2005 Black/Black, prior to this car. And several cars before that were either black or tan leather, as it sounds like you have experienced. The chestnut definitely looks richer and more elegent than a basic black or tan. And everyone who rides in it for the first time comments very positively on the color, and the two-tone dash. Big wow factor time and again.

I hope you find an exterior color you can live with and get the chestnut. It will be hard for me to go back to a "normal" color after this, it is so nice. Who knows, you may like the style so much you'll start washing the exterior, too!!

PS - I don't know if it the self-healing paint or not, but this is the first black car I have had that doesn't show swirl marks and streaks from hand washing or auto car washing. I am very impressed with the paint finish. I have zero qualms at all about running it through a car wash.

I have Stone leather in my Armada, but I love the rich look of the Chestnut leather in the QX56. I have had Black, Latte, and Almond, but Stone and Chestnut are my favorites!

I have dark courant with wheat and thats only because they couldnt locate chestnut which is by far the best interior color. its good to see people liking colors other than lame and morose black. the dark courant is an awesome color too.

The Chestnut looks good, but I think the two tone looks cheap on the EX35, in my opinion. They should have made the top of the dash and other areas chestnut as well. It looks like you had to have a piece replaced that didn't match the same color. Furthermore the Chestnut does not match the grey on the pillars and roof liner either.

I guess I have the opposite experience, having had many cars with tan leather and black leather, the tan shows too much dirt/grime/stains that the black better hides, esp with kids...
