I know this topic has been beaten to death in other threads...

Do you think it's necessary to use leather cleaner before using conditioner if your seats don't seem to be dirty?

I've had my Murano for about 4 months now. It has a black leather interior. Once a week I wipe down the seats with a damp towel. About every three weeks I've been applying Lexol conditioner. I really don't see the need to bombard the leather with detegents if they aren't needed, but on the flip side I wonder if the oils in the conditioner might be setting any unseen dirt into the leather.

I would do whatever is recommended by the product you are using. If it doesn't say that you should use the cleaner first, then I wouldn't worry about it unless it is dirty.

On another note, the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser works wonders on removing the millions of black scuff marks on the plastic from my wife's heels. It also worked to remove scuffs on the actual leather seats, but you should condition them after because they feel dry after using the eraser.
