We're looking at bare bones Versas + A/C + ABS (list $12,090), and so far the dealers we've contacted are trying to stay right around sticker. Best I've gotten is $11,800.

Are there other bargaining chips? I've had a dealer say they could find a radio sitting around somewhere to slap in it, which is a start, but really isn't anything I couldn't do.

Anyone gotten a dealer-installed cruise? I know there's a cruise package for the fancier trim levels, but want to stay at the 1.6 sedan, going one step above Base for the A/C. Has anyone gotten the dealer to install a cruise after purchasing?

Also, the prices on the dealer experience thread here for hatchbacks and nicer trim seem pretty close to the list for the 1.6. Any advice on how to get the best car for at or under $12k?

Thanks!

IIRC, there's a REAL base model available for $9999 (msrp).

Walk away if you don't get the deal you want. The hatch is the cheaper of the two, so consider it over the sedan if you're looking to save a few bucks.

hatch is cheaper than a sedan and manual trans is cheaper than auto and CVT. Like Hitman said, don't take no for an answer. There are plenty of dealers out there that will play ball with what you want. Look at all the dealers within a 50-100 range of you. Most have internet managers that you can negotiate with before showing up on the scene.

Actually, the sedan is cheaper with the 1.6. /shrug

Mostly just wondering if anyone had a low price. Our first written quote for Versa 1.6 with A/C and ABS was $11,898. Hopefully we can do much better, but hoped someone could give us a good idea how much better! :naughty:
