I leased my Rogue and the lease will be done in April of 2010.

I had driven 8 and 6 cylinders for decades ('had a 2000 Explorer with 100K that was starting to need expensive jobs) and was worried going into a 4 cylinder. Also I'd driven 4x4's so the Roque would be all-wheel and sitting much lower.....and I wasn't sure I'd adapt.

Well I adapted, and really like my Rogue.

Forgive me my ignorance concerning residuals, but can I negotiate the residual? I haven't even hit 8,400 on my Roque yet, and I seriously doubt that I will come anywhere near the 24K the lease allows.

Realistically what could I hope to re-negotiate the $16K residual down to?

Many thanks.

If you financed the lease via Nissan then I would think your not going to be able to knock off too much. The mileage to them really doesn't play into the buy down. Then again, if you financed through another leader you should be able to knock them down around 1,500. Reason being the bank doesn't want to be stuck with the car and have to put it into an auction. I've leased twice and both times the Bank called me prior to the expiration of the lease and both times I was offered a good deal of which one of them I actually accepted. You should hear from a Bank well in advance to the end of the lease, so you'll have time to make a decision. Again this was during the times when the economy was good, today is a whole different story. Good Luck!
