Learning Mode for Transmission

Trying to install a rebuilt CVT transmission in my 2008 Nissan Rogue SL. Does anyone know how to get it to learn mode for the installation?

Thanks for the information, pretty interesting. I'm sure this was the absolute fastest they could get the patch released, because it no doubt took a lot of time to properly diagnose the problem, develop a solution, then test the solution to ensure it worked as intended in all of the millions of potential driving conditions without causing any new problems or potentially dangerous situations.

Just something to keep in mind, when you had the new reflash/reprogram, your computer was reset and should now be in learn mode again. I would guess that if you drive conservatively that the higher rpms you're referring too could again drop down to where they were before once the learn period is completed and the TCM and ECU is tuned to your driving habits. If you drive aggessively on the other hand, this may not happen. Bottom line, I'm suggesting that the reflash may not be completey to blame for the change in rpms, but the fact that it's memory was reset may also be to blame.

Just some thoughts, only time will tell!

My wife primarily drives this vehicle and she is very light on the gas peddle. And I also looked at how many Km we are getting per tank and it is around 400km range when it's almost empty. Again that is city driving with quite a bit of stop and go in the city, but I still thought we should get better mileage. Would it be a waste of my time to bring it into Nissan to have them take a look?

I wouldn't hesitate to bring it to the dealer and mention the horrible gas mileage you're getting - mileage will be highly variable but if you are consistently only getting 400 km from a tank you are not even close, I get 550 km in winter with 100% city driving with my FWD 08 Rogue.

They can connect their diagnostic CONSULT tool to your car and check all of the sensor readings including combustion parameters, intake, exhaust - from start to finish and within a matter of just a few minutes know if anything is out of spec.. They can also reset your ECU computer and essentially start from fresh factory settings - then you drive normally and conservatively and the ECU will be in "learn" mode, which means it learns your driving style and tunes itself to optimize the driving experience. If you drive conservatively in learn-mode it will tune the vehicle for optimium efficiency.

I strongly suggest you take it to Nissan to have a full diagnostic check, it is a quick and easy process that can be extremely useful with a good chance of solving your issue. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.
