Here's the thing, to people in the market for a Camry, it probably does feel fast. I've driven a 2013 model, it's not slow. I wouldn't say it's fast, but it has a decent amount of low end torque and putting it to the floor on the highway rewards you with a pretty capable vehicle when you need to pass with confidence.

I'd say it holds it own when compared to other 4dr sedans.

Honestly, it's no worse than Nissan still calling the Maxima a 4 door sports car...

It's not too bad looking either for a blandmobile, but i'm with MoD - Why do people seriously even consider blowing their money on something like this? Brand loyalty aside, it's pathetic that people would actually walk on a Toyota lot and say "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY, I WANT A SPORTY CAMRY IN ATTITUDE BLACK!!!(Yes it really has that color as an option)."

That model comes up at $29k loaded and I can think of a lot better things to spend that money on.

[Here's the thing. Is the problem really that Toyota is successfully marketing/selling boring transportation appliances with tiny nonfunctional decklid spoilers and slightly more sleek styling than their previous gens or is the REAL problem the hundreds of thousands of people that want to buy these boring transportation appliances who put reliability and resale value higher than the driving experience. Toyota is guilty of knowing their demographics extremely well and we are simply not part of their Camry target audience. IMHO It seems a waste of energy to hate them so much, especially since they sell something we enthusiasts like that Nissan does not even offer: an inexpensive sports car with a 3rd pedal. (FRS).

Toyota as a brand i've always loved. They've had their downtimes, but they've consistently made "safe bet" and good vehicles in general. I've loved pretty much every model truck and body-on-frame SUV they make. Now, I do feel like everything Lexus and Toyota is priced a bit higher than it should be, but is it really? I know if I walked on a Toyota lot right now and bought something, expecting it to last 10-15 years is not an issue in most cases. You're paying for peace of mind. Some people like to make a safe bet and there's nothing wrong with that.

Personally, i'd rather buy a BMW and b**** about how much of a pain in the arse it is to maintain every day of the week. The reason being, I know i'd be blissfully happy every time I got behind the wheel of it and went for a drive. That's my preference though, because I love the driving experience more than a car just being an appliance.

Toyota is one of the top selling automakers out there and it's obvious they're successful though. I still find the advert quite amusing, because I can just imagine a commercial now with a mom blowing by an old muscle car or something like that.

I'd love to have a BMW, until the warranty ran out. :chuckle:

You know, I've considered getting a CarMax BMW simply because they offer a warranty that BMW never offered from the factory. To have an M3 'vert with a 60k bumper-to-bumper warranty would be awesome. CarMax is also very good about covering you. Work can be done at any shop or dealer; so you know work will be done correctly. There's a small deductible, but that's nothing compared to the actual cost of maintenance of any BMW model.

I'd never buy a BMW as a primary vehicle, unless it was an E30 or E36 M3 or it had a VERY good warranty. Now if it were for a second vehicle, I wouldn't care one bit.

Sup fellas!
That turbo helps the engine burn coolant very quickly. I was down to about 1.5-2 quarts when I changed the oil yesterday :ohno:
Gotta keep a better eye on that.

Is the 240 in ship shape now Ben?

I'm trying to think up how adding a turbo would have anything directly to do with burning coolant... Maybe you've got another issue?

s***, did I say coolant? I meant oil. I'm burning oil.
Turbos increase oil consumption, right?

A shot turbo can increase consumption by letting oil past the seals. Otherwise, they're sealed with compression rings like a piston in a motor. A turbo will increase the thermal breakdown of the oil as it helps cool and lubricated the turbo shaft.

hhuhuhhhuhuhu, he said shaft.

The engine has burned oil in the past, but maybe its accelerated since the oil temp is hotter passing through the turbo? Am I just spewing nonsensical crap out of my butthole?

If the turbo was leaking oil past the turbine seal you'd see lots of smoke.

As far as the turbo increasing oil temps and ruining the oil goes, they don't recommend changing the oil any sooner on a forced induction car than they do a NA car...so it's really negligible imho. It might heat the oil up a little, but that's it. Considering that most modern engines run at 220+* all day every day, I doubt the turbo on your Miata is expediting the oil towards it death much.

Oil is usually eaten via worn piston rings or possibly leaking into the coolant via bad head gasket. Or it could just be a leak from a seal...

On a friggin wicked cool note, we found a sweet house on 10 acres, in ground pool, 6 car detached garage with an upstairs office, detached green house...oh and it has a 4 car attached garage. So parking for 10 f*** cars!

House is 3200sqft.

Just need to hear back on a job for Kate and we're pulling the trigger on that f***!

Nice!!!! I'd love a place like that. Hell, I'd rather have garage space than living space. An equivalent to my current 1-bedroom apartment over a 6+ car garage with an open upper level along one wall for tables/chairs and a TV would be perfect.

When everyone was looking at the house, I was looking at the garage. I might not even go near the house...just for meals I suppose.

The neighbors are all on huge lots as well, so it's totally private. f*** man, I just need Kate to get the word on one of the prospective jobs and we'll jump on this.

Morning Ben!

Brian, sounds like a helluva house. You can park your farm equipment in there, too. And your buddies cars when they come over. How soon will the lift be installed?

No farm equipment, only 10 acres of land. Enough for the kids to have a nice place to grow up though. It already has a vegetable garden and herb garden, so that's a bonus.

The lift will probably go in after the first year of ownership. Chances are most of the extra funds will be spent customizing the house etc. I've managed to be a car guy for 38 years without a lift so far, a little longer won't hurt.

I hear ya, gotta install a sex dungeon before you can really enjoy your new house.
How many bedrooms are in a 3200 sq foot house? 3200 doesn't count the garage space, right?
Will there be a house warming? With lawn mowers. And guns?

The main house has a 4 car attached garage, this does not count towards the sqft. A detached building never counts towards the sqft. The 6 car is detached.

The house is a 5bdrm 3.5 bath.

Of course there will be a house warming party! Also, what kind of party doesn't have lawn mowers and guns?

Good to know. I haven't bought a house yet, so still learning as the opportunities present themselves.

Lame parties don't have lawn mowers and guns. As a rule, there should always be a machine with a loud engine at all parties.

Damn, that place sounds like heaven. A friend of mine has a place out in the sticks near Chantilly/Aldie VA with that much land... You can spot it from Google maps easily it's so much, since he cleared it all out for an orchard.
