I built something really similar last year with the same size lumber, though I added legs in the middle. It wouldn't hold a block steady enough to my liking without it. Later, I braced the inside of the outer frame with some 2x6s because the table would wobble sometimes. It was a solid-as$ BMF of a table. What did you use to hold the legs to the frame? I had so much trouble with screws that I switched over to bolts after a bit...
The frame is made of 2x6. The ribs are 2x4s and i have them set 3/4" from the top of the frame so I can fit my MDF top in flush. I secured the legs with 2 carriage bolts that I countersunk into the frame. I'm gonna skin the table with sheet metal at some point, and I didn't wat the carriage bolt heads to get in the way. Once I get the lower supports built, I'll screw the leg into the short side of the frame for added stability. Once it's all built together, I'm gonna shim the underside of the legs to level it once the table is in place. Everything has been glued and screwed together too.
I suck at carpentry, so I'm kind of impressed with myself that this thing hasn't ended up a pile of useless lumber.
