I don't need any more shows to watch. I still kinda want to see all of 24, but that's a pretty huge commitment to make...

24 season 1 was awesome.

24 seasons 2 - ?? should have been re-titled "We 24ed'd the shark".

Lou, that's part of the reason I don't want to make the commitment. Also are they on blu-ray yet? I don't wanna watch them in anything other than HD. 24 is SD just seems criminal...

I don't know if they're on Blu yet...though i must say the DVD's are pretty good quality for DVD, and upscale really well.

Upscaled SD is no HD. I'm a freaking snob at this point. There is no returning!

Also, I don't have a truly great upscaling player yet. But I will hopefully be able to grab the Oppo BDP-93 when it is released. Fingers crossed it makes it before Christmas.

It being close to Halloween and all, I'd be remiss if I didn't take a moment to honor the departed Peter Steele and his "my goth daughter beat up your emo son" anthem:

High Definition doesn't really matter unless you're playing a game or watching a really epic movie. My problem with the techno snobs stems from the fact that sometimes, you just have to accept that there will be boring parts or less definition in your life. Why accentuate everything like that?

And for today's fill of music that is old enough to be basically forgotten but not so old that it has become classic.

Sports too. And I go for highest quality in everything. If you're going to do it, might as well go to the extreme. Right?

I have never used the HTPC to play movies. To be honest, at this point I don't really have any DVDs left. And since that technology is more-or-less dead to me, I don't plan on buying more. I'd mess with it, but as I'm sure you recall the HTPC is temporarily out of commission.

Sports matter.

It's just about adding richness and detail. I enjoy chick flicks a little bit more when they are in HD.

There doesn't have to be SD. Boring you can't beat. SD you can.

The only sport that moves fast enough to necessitate HD would be Hockey. Before HD, they had to highlight the puck so you could see WTF was going on. Before that, everybody was kind of lost, right? Football, baseball and basketball were just fine before HD.

Political extremists? I'm ok with taking quality to an extreme. But, at the same time I don't feel I should mandate everyone else do the same.

And the puck highlighting thing was crap. Anyone who actually followed hockey didn't need it and was most likely annoyed with it, tbh.

For the record, Gerry did not think this idea up:

We should get a group to compete in the spartan race next summer:
