I agree. I wasn't implying that we need to swing to the other extreme & snub everyone.

But the latter portion of your post raises an interesting question... do you really think another superpower could be our true friend? Given the chance, I think anyone would rape us. Human nature

^ I think we should make a totally new thread out of EXACTLY the topic you pose. I love it.

But, I wan't implying that our "friend" needed to be a superpower. I'd like to see how ANY of our "friends" would react if we suddently stopped giving them stuff and doing them favors. Israel, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Georgia, Nigeria, Venezuela...etc.

Irrelevant to this thread now but it was because your edited post (by the time I saw it) was a reply to me and quoted me. How could I NOT?

Back on topic, and I think this is a good one:

In the court of global geo-political opinion, does the United States HAVE any "true friends"?

sound off.

We have had & will have allies. These alliances are not guaranteed (and never were) based upon our decisions. Human nature always prevails, and if a country changes it's mind or we elect a weak leader like Obama... the hungry wolves will pounce.

So it seems that we have allies who some believe fall into the "true friends" category. Next question would be how do you define "true friends", then?
