Hey whats up guys,Ive got a 91 SE HB, and it came with a replaced no spoiler trunk. When it rains I notice a build up of water in the spare tire well. How can I diagnos the problem? This is my 2nd 240 so Im guessing it can be common problem. Im a novice at fixing the car but Id like to give it a shot. Oliver

Use a hose to spray around your hatch and tail lights, then get in the car and look for where its dripping.

It will be eaiser to to find the leak if you take out the trim panels and carpet.

its the drainage from ur sunroof. sh.t happens with 15 yr old cars. just make sure the drainage from the sunroof leading to the lights is completly clean or unclogged. check by the lights too.

had the same problem in my 89 hb. It is a 10$ fix. Here is how you fix it.

scroll to the bottom and on your left hand side look for water leak.

All of your posts are good ideas. What DRFT240 needs though is to confirm the location of this leak. You can easily check all of these things by yourself. After having removed all of the trunk trim, open the hatch. Yes! you check for the leak with the hatch open. 1)Park the car on a flat surface. 2)Remove any attachment from your garden hose. Take masking tape and tape the hose to your roof (facing the trunk obviously). Turn on the hose and let the water run down the gutters. Increase pressure until water almost splashes over trunk seal and then back off slightly. Now you can see where it is leaking from without having to be a contortionist and wasting your friends time holding a hose. This obviously does not check the sunroof drains (but you can cram your hose in there too)
