First time this has happend. Last night here in Jersey, we had heavy rain and wind. I got in my car this morning and I noticed water dripping from one of the map lights. I'm thinking it's coming from the sunroof. Is there some weepholes that could be clogged. I'm thinking that this is a isolated problem and the only reason it leaked was because it rained so hard with the wind. Not only that, my car was on an incline, going downhill, so whatever water got in, it colected to the front of the sunroof. So what should I check? I'm washing my car this weekend, so I'll see if the Q still leaks.

Unlike the rear drain holes, the front ones are exposed to the elements whenever the sunroof is open.

Usually though, any dust dirt that collects around the sunroof opening tends to clog the front drain holes (since they're closer). Had the car been level, the water would have spread to both the front and rear drains. With a level car, even with plugged front drain holes, the water will just sit in the water channels and eventually back up to the rear drains.

If the front end is too low, however, the water can't get to the rear drains so it eventually spills over the water channel. This happened to my J30.

On my J30, one of the front drain hole hoses had somehow disconnected from the sunroof assembly so the water would drip directly onto the headliner!

I'm assuming the sunroof design between the Q ship and the J are similar. The Q experts will chime in here soon, I'm sure.

I got the same thing

Test your drains.. open the sunroof, and in both corners in the front, youll see 2 holes.. Get a small cup or something, and pour a little in there.... It should drain down quick (the hoses and holes on the other side are quite large), and it should come out under the drivers side door.... Make sure both drains drain ample water....

Otherwise get some canned air or whatever and unclog.... If anything stick a straw in there and blow around.....

Any clogging will occur right at the port, as the hoses that drain down to the ground are very large (at least 2x the size of the drain hole you see)

Also check your sunroof seals (rubber part) along the edge. They get old with hairline cracks and become ill fitting allowing water to seep in.

Yeah, first check the drain holes. If you have a wind deflector on your sunroof, the drain holes are more prone to getting clogged.

If the water has been collecting for a while, there may also be some damage to the sunroof motor. I know that I had to change mine when I discovered a leak on my 92Q. The dealer cleaned out the holes and replaced the sunroof motor.

Yes this is true. On my old Q i ghetto rigged it, put some electrical tape on the rear seal (since mine was leaking at the rear)....

I think Louie's main problem is the drains, if its leaking in the front, theres no exuse for the drains to not make up for that.!
