Hi everyone,
After fixing the EGR problem that had caused my check engine light to be on for a few months (heh), I knew it wouldn't be long before the light came back on for some reason or another, as the car seems to hate me. Sure enough, I was right, and when I checked the code, it read 45 for a leaky injector. Upon seeing this, and reading the information here on the forum, I replaced the O2 sensor, as it appeared to be the car's original one. I thought that might have fixed the problem, but the light came back on a few days after that. Checked the code again, still read 45. OK, I reset the ECU, and took it for a ride . . . light would come on with my foot on the gas, and would go off as soon as I took it off the gas, with no delay at all.
This led me to believe that the problem might lay with the throttle position sensor. My "theory" is that, for whatever reason, the sensor might be sticking in a position where the TPS was "telling" the ECU to inject an amount of fuel, but the throttle wasn't really as wide open as the TPS "thought" it was. Plausable theory? I checked the connections to the TPS, and took the car out for another ride, no CEL, but I doubt very much that I fixed it. I'm certainly going to check out the injector diagnosis in the FSM, but I was just wondering if anyone has seen anything similar to this before . . . plus, I'm dead tired and bored on a Friday night after 9 hours of sleep in the past 2 days. :-)
