well #3 is leaking slighty intermittantly on the leftovers beater. one things for certain i am not replacing the seals. hell no. the car isnt worth it. so im thinking i could clean the area with carb cleaner and compressed air, then spackle some black rtv in there to plug it up. what d'ya think?

So your not replacing the $1 O-ring... you deserve to have a leaky injector!

i dont think parts are the issue. i dont feel like replacing all the injector seals over a minor leak and having to reseat them repeatedly until they seal. why would i want to open a can of worms like that on a old car? thanks for the non-answer.

Its a 240, its not really that hard to replace them.....

We generally use petroleum jelly or something of that nature so that they do not pinch when you install them, thats the key.. Lube it good before you go to put the injector in the rail...

I would be scared the RTV or whatever would clog the injectors, as these are side feed injectors..

ok thanks for the answer answer.

what im trying to avoid is having to pull the injectors out at all. everything ive read on it ends up with the new seals leaking and having to buy new injectors. i just wanna spackle over the top of the seal going into the head and see if it supresses the leak.

AS far as Im aware, you can just replace the O rings on the injectors. NIssan is crazy in that they use the same design for about everyhting. So what im doing is assuming the Q45 injectors are of the same design as the 240 ones (which i am pretty sure they are, but the 240 ones are just smaller)

So what im suggesting you do, is pull the injector, get hte new O rings, and then re-install..

Also, to verify, the injector is leaking extra fuel at the tip causing it to run rough and rich, or is it leaking elsewhere???? if its leaking at the top, thats a different story.. There are I think 2 or 3 O-rings.....

no, actually it seems to be running very smoothly. theres just a little fuel welling up around the rubber going into the manifold. It seems to only happen once in a while.

OK.... so possibly the seal on the fuel rail is goofy... I know theres gotta be an O-Ring there you can replace... I think the RTV thing might be a temporary thing but I think that if gas is directly exposed to it, the gas may just eat through it...

I was thinking you wanted to take some RTV and put it INSIDE where the injector seats into the rail!! Hence my frist post!! No harm no foul man!!

I dont have the diagrams for the 240, but Id call one of our sponsors and ask them what the deal is, they can even email you the parts diagram so you can see exactly what you need.... You can call either Midway nissan or Everything nissan (contact info is in my sig).....

If theres just a simple O ring to be replaced, thats what Id do rather than rig it, IMHO.. You dont want gas spewing everywhere and you want to make as reliable a fix as you can... As they say, GIT - R - DUN!
