Well, I think I've got a leaky Head Gasket. Compression is fine, no oil/coolant mixing, but I've a pretty bad oil leak on the back of the motor on the exhaust side. I've been fighting oil in this spot since the rebuild, but it seems to be getting worse. It's a stock style gasket with copper spray on ARP headstuds.

Has anyone else had any problems like this in this area?

You sure its the head gasket? There is the crankcase ventilation line that goes to the valve cover back there that always seems to leak some oil no matter what i do. I would also check the valve cover gasket and the half moon rubber seal.

When i installed the cometic i noticed oil leaking from that rear spot near the exhaust. I changed my head gasket to the felpro and used the copper spray and did not notice it for a couple of days. But i sold my car right after i changed the headgasket and i do not know if it leaks anymore. I also had good compression and no oil/coolant mixture. Try checking the tq near that headbolt

i have a nasty leak comming from back there, turns out my valve cover bolt on the inside row were all loose, so i now have my plug valleys filled to the top with oil and oil all down the back of the motor.

My valve cover is leaking right there. Pretty bad too. I can tell it is the valve cover because the oil river runs all down the head, then onto the block. When my hg went, I was leaking coolant and oil from that same spot. A lot of it. Now, my oil isn't even low and my coolant is clean and totally full (both firsts since I installed the motor, LOL)

It's for sure coming from the HG. I sprayed some cleaner on the spot between the head and block while the motor was running to clean the oil off and about 20 seconds later, you can start to see oil seep out between the head and block.

I'm going to re-torque them this morning and see what happens.

I think my valve cover is leaking slightly, but not enough to cause the oiling I'm getting.

I'm going to do this today as well...

Well, that is a bit of a wonderment if you will. I don't remember exactly. I know at the time that I built the motor there was a question as to whether the length of the bolts was correct. I can't find my stock head washers, or the ARP ones, and I THINK (it's been almost 2 years ago) that I used both washers.
