hey ive been stuggling with this problem for a while, and have ruined a few computers from this. currently i have all the electronics wrapped in plastic so they wont get wet. heres the problem i have. ive been having water (pretty sure its not coolant, because it doesnt taste like coolant) drip down onto my ecu and other electronic componants. it has the symptoms of a leaky heater core in that it is in the general area, but as stated befor i dont think its coolant, because of the taste, and ive have noticed a drop in collant levels. but there is deffinatly water dripping down from under the passanger dash. im guessing it could be leaking in from the firewall or winshield or t-tops, but i cant seam to find the leak. just wondering if anybody had any simmilar problmes or had any ideas. thanks

hey man you live in san jose....so im just guessing you run the AC alot...if so that might be the case...i had a similar problem with mine dripping and come to find out the drain hose for the AC was clogged and water was backing up and out the passenger side floor vent ( lol of course...you know bc of gravity and all ). I would check it...the hose comes out the firewall behind the motor on the passenger side...and yeah you can get to it.....

Also check the drain tubes for the T-Tops. If it's pure water, it not going to be the heater core. Even if you run the heat, the AC will run unless you have it on Econ. So, check the AC drain tube anyway, make sure the leak isn't from the box itself as the styrofoam around the evaporator does crack sometime and lets the water through.

yeah it was the drain from the air conditioning . there was a little rubber hose on the firewall on the passenger side it should be noticeable i cleaned that out it was all crusty and clogged, water drained out and haven't had a problem since. :) also to be safe i wrapped the computer are in a heavy plastic material to prevent any leaks from dripping on the computer. after blowing 3 ecu's in a month to water i played it safe. and as stated check for leaks from the ttops and any other window seals or anything in that area where you could potentially have a leak

Old topic, but how was the drain line cleaned of any debris? Can the line be disconnected from the cooling unit. Just would like to know before I start opening up the patient .

I don't recall specifically on the Z32, but most Nissan drains just pull loose and can be blown or snaked clear.

VStar, correct again. My arms are torn apart , but the line is clear . The drain line easily pulled off, i snaked it first , then blew it out. Surprised at the amount of crud. Hopefully that addresses the water leakage on my passengers. Thanks again
