Hi i am Blaine and i own a 1990 240 hatch that i have rebuilt the motor and put it in. As soon as i put water in the radiator it started pouring out of the oil pan. What do guys think it might be, people tell me a broke water jacket. What do i need to look for. Throw any answer at me you can i can remember every step i did building this motor. Thank you

Hi Blaine, welcome to NICO.
Here are some ideas to get you started:
How much is pouring out?
Is it a drip or more of a steady stream?
Is there a physical hole in the oil pan?
Is a hose on the top or bottom of the radiator where it meets the engine bad?
Water tends to follow contours and the source can be very different from the actual point of the leak.

Try to catch it in the act. Jack up your car, set it on some jackstands, pour some water in and quickly crawl under to see where it leaks from.

Have you over heated lately or in the recent past?
Can you confirm that there is water in the oil?
Possibly post a photo of the color, or describe it?

If you have coolant/water in the oil, its going to be a blondeish/brown color and be the consistency of sludge.

If its like that, you may have a blown head gasket that is allowing the coolant to leak into the oil.

I have been all over this car trying to find a leak. It pours everything out the oil drain plug as fast as i can fill the radiator. This motor is a very fresh rebuild. When i first started the car after the motor was put in it mixed water and oil right off the bat . Can you say yooohooooo thats what it looked like and it has never been overheated scince i have owned this car. That has been five years

Did you end up doing the rebuild yourself or did you have a shop do the work? One option is that you might have a defective head gasket or something worse going on. You may need to pull the head to inspect the gasket and see if you can find any obvious problems with the gasket, on the deck, or at least narrow it down to a specific cylinder or area. Another note- I helped a friend replace a head gasket once and almost put it in backwards. Couldn't hurt to find out if thats the cause.

Did you remove the oil pan during the rebuild and notice anything off about the lower radiator hose area of the block?

Definitely pull the pan and see if you can see where it's coming from. If it's coming out as fast as it sounds, it might be pretty bad news.
