When I changed my spark plugs a while ago I noticed oil in the spark plug tubes.

The car is out of warantee and I have read all the posts about this problem.

I am contivinced there must be a more economical way of solving this problem than spending over $1,000. for having the dealer replace the valve covers.

Has anyone tried to replace just the o rings??

Has anyone looked into this and found a way to solve the problem without replacing the covers?

4 valve per cylinder engines all leak in the same manner from heat deforming the spark plug well seal.

Common occurance since before 1990 on Infiniti/Nissan. V6 are obviously easier than V8 due to fewer orings but you still must remove valve covers to clean and replace gaskets/orings, etc.

Your labor vs a trained technicans labor plus business overhead expenses.

Thnxs for your thoughts Q45

I have no problem removing the covers to replace the o - rings if only we had that option.

From the other thread, I don't recall any other solution.

Call IoS and ask them.

I am surprised there is not an aftermarket solution. Hello, Stillen?

Apparently there is a solution (new valve covers) but it's not pretty...

I contacted the design engineer at Stillen regarding the chance they can, or will be producing quality valve covers for the VQ3.5's.

He replied by saying that the cost would be to great for a limited market.

Did he truly understand the problem?

Does he realize how many VQ35DE there are and will be with this problem?
