Could leaking valve covers cause a vacuum leak?

Would there be a difference if they were leaking internally or externally?

I think external leaking could be the only way for a vacuum leak.

Just a thought than ran into my head during the oil change....

Yes I make lazy people look good, I need to get around to changing them.

Remember the pressure gradient is a sine wave shape just like the air flow into engine approximating the cam shape.

Inexpensive analog pressure gauges smooth [average] the actual peak pressure pulses.

Drill a test port and install a sleeve into a spare oil filler cap and use a digital pressure gauge and oscilloscope to see the actual pulse from each cylinder leakage at least on that bank.

Remember the PCV system hose diameters were design for new in warranty engines, not worn blowby increased engines.

Every engine will be a little different as to the pressure developed and that will increase with rpm as the average gets closer to peak.
