okay, I'm leaking PS fluid on one of the connectors on the lines (circled in red). Any suggestions on what to do (such as getting some sort of sealant or new O ring or something..)? No power steering sucks, so I'm probably gonna attack this problem tomorrow. According to the FSM, it just said remove and reattach, but I'm just afraid it'll leak again (and leave me without power steering =/), but it didn't say anything about replacing an o ring or add some kind of plumbing sealant or anything.

permatex has a contact cement that might work as a temp fix. but it either needs tightened or a new washer/o ring

Yeah, I'm pretty sure sealant is not going to hold under that type of pressure. There must be an o-ring or washer in there.

There should be an o-ring or washer there, and probably due to age it has worn out and started leaking.

Get new line from me for cheap. lol That fitting is an inner O-ring style but you might be able to get by with finding the right size 0-ring and replacing it. It's rather small, also the metal washer on the end of the hardline as well, that should get replaced. If that doesn't fix it then hit me up and I'll give you the special mod pricing.

well, for some reason, it was just loose. As soon as I got home, I tightened it.

Why it was loose to begin with... I have no clue.

Well see if it still leaks tomorrow.

lol. Actually, no PS in an S13 isn't too bad, as long as your only DDing it.

hmm...maybe it just vibrated/worked itself loose after all of these years.

I liked it too, except in the parking lot lol. The previous owner had the P/S pump go out, so he just removed the belt, but didn't drain the fluid, so the rack had blown it's seals out. When I had the SR swapped in, I had a re-maned rack installed. It made the car feel more "jumpy" I guess, esp at speed, but it rocked at slow speeds. If I had to do it over again (esp since I don't drift), I probably would have saved the money and not had the rack installed (or let that shop touch my car /bitter ).

If I did anything but cruise around in the S13 it would have an MR-2 electric pump and PS for sure.

I'm pretty sure that unless you replace the stock rack with a quick ratio manual one, that drifting is almost impossible since you're fighting the steering wheel and wouldn't be able to turn it from lock to lock quickly.
