So after changing my oil today I when to move my car and heard some weird sound coming from my power steering pump. After a few minutes of searching i found out one of my lines has a leak in it. The leak is right where the hose is crimped to the fitting that goes into the pump. I searched on hear for some help and came a part#. 49720-53f00 is th part number for the pressure pwer steering hose. What I want know is, how hard is it to replace the hose and can I buy it from somewhere like autozone or pepboys because i really don't have like 160 bucks to buy a new one right now. Thanks alot

S13 Power Steering Pressure Hose Replacement zerothread?id=241485It's not hard unless you have emissions and A/C. If you do then you have to move some of that stuff to get the pressure lines on and off otherwise it's a tight space to work in. Also make sure you have a 10mm line wrench for removing the powersteering hardlines.

Thanks for the link. And awsome write-up btw. I guess you went to a dealership to get a new power steering pressure hose. How long did it take to do the whole thing, and also do i have to change both the rubber hose and the hard lines at the same time?

Edit*Also I noticed that my pressure hose has a threaded hole where the hard line bolts in and yours didn't. I'm guessing that that means that I can just inbolt the old hardline.

If you don't have any problems removing the hardlines then it can be done in an hour. You only need to remove the leaking pressure hose, no need to remove the smaller rubber hoses. Just unbolt the hardline from the pressure hose, remove the banjo bolt and disconnect the harness to get the pressure hose out. Brand new pressure hoses across the internet are going to run you $150...I checked alot of places and that's the average price for a new P/S pressure hose.

Not to sound like a Fan-boy but, dude you are my hero. Now I just have to wait until I get paid and I'll buy a new hose.

So just for the record I replaced my power steering line and it worked fine. There were still some minor leaks that no amount of tightening would fix. So the other day my dad brought home some Lucas Oil Power Steering Stop Leak. It works great my system does not leak at all anymore and I would recommend this to anyone. Just in case anyone searches and finds this thread, if your power steering line does not have a massive split in it or anything visible I would try some of this stuff.

I hate to revive an old thread, but this was the replacement for the entire hose, when the rubber line can be disconnected at where the hard line begins. I'm replacin only my rubber hose part but the hard line which requires a 14mm flare nut wrench (which I found out after I destoryed/rounded off the flare nut on a replacement tryin to use a regular open end wrench and ended up having to use a vice grip).

But mine just will not budge and I've left it on the car so I have it firmly in one place while I try to loosen it and do not have a repeat of my first attempt. Little room to work with and have little to no leverage(sp) and can't find room for a cheater bar. Will be trying a Flare Nut CrowFoot ratchet attatchment next. Any Suggestions?
