Ok so I was driving around the other day and my friend had what looked like coolant drip on his foot, it basically covered half his foot, it was pretty gnar. Is this heater core on the passenger side? And could it possibly be a loose connection of some sort? Just looking for some guidamce any help appreciated

thats usally not a good sighn. but it could be a hose clamp but very unlikley. its probabaly roted, they rot out after a while.you could bypass it from the radiator .just rig a hose and loop from the rad. to the rad.

What do you mean rotted? Like cracked? And do you mean like bypassing the heater? That doesn't sound like a good idea.

LOL no you never run a hose from the radiator to the radiator. It does sound like a heater core leak. You have two pipes on the back of your engine, and they run coolant to and from the heater core. You will probably need to pull the plenum to reach the hoses. You could connect those two pipes, effectively bypassing your heater core. You won't have heat, but you will probably have a band-aid fix for your leak until you have the time/money to repair it. I don't know how hard it is to pull the heater core out of this car I've luckily not had to touch one

BTW - bypassing the heater core isn't going to hurt anything except for the fact that your heat won't be hot. The two heater hoses run between the engine and the firewall, right in the middle of the car. All you need to do to bypass the heater core is link those two hoses, maybe with a combination of fittings and an elbow-shaped hose.

The right way to do it of course would be to just fix whatever is leaking in your heater box

Ya I'm really just hoping its a loose fitting. Sounds like you have to pull a lot to fix the heater core, it only leaks occasionnally, its weird

It could be condensation backing up from the air conditioning if the drain hose is clogged....just an idea, might be worth looking into/trying. The only reason i say this is because you say it only leaks sometimes.

It would just be water if it was the ac condenser right? It definately looks like coolant
