Ok guys just picked up an s14 with kouki conversion. The car is leaking gas from the top of the tank into the rear seat, its not flooding in but its enough to make me sick and afraid of a backfire kaboom. So, I figured it was the purge/overflow line. I got in the car today, turned the key and when the fuel pump primed I heard it his pretty good from the top of the rear seat on the driverside on the platform where the hump is on that plateau of the chassis above the gas tank. I don't know exactly what it is but is there a line there and if so how can I replace it? I cant believe you have to drop the subframe to get to the tank.

Ill try to get a pic but I really need this fixed

On S13 there is a rubber round O-ring gasket that seals the lid of the fuel pump/level sender assembly to the tank. It usually expands in diameter when removed, and will leak if not checked / trimmed and installed wrong. Then you get the same gas smell in the cabin.

On S14, you can get to the fuel pump / sender unit without dropping the tank. There is a large screw on "cap" like a giant pill bottle top behind the rear seat. I would check there first, if the previous owner changed the fuel pump the "cap" might be loose or cross threaded.

Good luck!
