I failed an emission's idle test and dealer said my fuel injectors leak They took the injectors out and tested them. I'm wondering why all 4 went bad with only about 10,000 kms of driving since my last emission test. I did replace the fuel pump in past year. Should I replace the injectors . I have not noticed any problems with driving. I get a pass from emissions because the cost is above their maximum repair cost.

Ok, thanks. I guess the leaking gas has ruined my catalytic converter. What other problems will a leaking injector cause as it is quite expensive to replace injectors in Canada?

not that hard to DIY the injectors... some are relatively cheaper in the aftermarket sector, but I guess OEM is best... don't replace the cat/ mebbe it's still OK...

other prob may have cause? o2 sensor/ plugs/ excess carbon in combustion chambers...etc...

fuel leaking down to the cat can melt it down. are you getting rotten egg smells from the tail pipe or does the car sound like it's got difficulty passing gas out the back? ha ha ha

Give Deatschwerks a call and let em know you're a nico member to get the 10% off for the injectors.

Remember to apply some vaseline on the rubber o-rings on the injectors when you install the replacements.

Mind posting what your emissions were reading?

****************HC***** CO***** NOX **** HC-Idle*** CO-Idle jan/2006 270,000 36 ppm 0.24 % 17 ppm 355 ppm 2.22 %

oct/2005 268,000 38 ppm 0.23 % 32 ppm 215 ppm 1.57 %

oct/2004 256,000 43 ppm 0.35 % 39 ppm 48 ppm 0.00 %

I failed the idle test for HC and CO. You needed max 108ppm for HC and .84 percent for CO. The initial test was in oct/2005 and I was tested 3 months later in jan/2006. The idle numbers got substantially worse in that 3 months. The first 3 columns are for driving test and i passed no problem.

no rotten egg or trouble passing gas.

Deatschwerks is selling four for what I would have to pay for one in Canada. Lordco quoted me $168(with discount) each. Canadian Tire quoted me $195 each.

so his cat still ok, 180?

based on his readings & cat observations, it's just the cause of leaky injectors?

oh, another problem caused by this: washing down of cylinder walls...

check/sniff oil dipstick; smell fuel? change it !

High HC and Co at idle is indicative of leaking injectors. The dealer took them out and tested them so Im confident they leak. The dealer wanted $1000 to replace the 4 injectors. That was the issue. If I can get the injectors cheap, then it is no brainer to replace them.
