i just did a boost leak test on my rb20 and there is a pretty good amount of air coming out of the blow off valve is this a common problem with the stock bov?and the boost gauge is reading about 5 lbs when testing so i would think thats enough vacuum pressure to keep the bov closed?

the stock valve is a bypass valve and doesn't hold shut like an aftermarket blow off valve does...

the stock bov is a 1st gen eclipse bov. They start leaking I think around 14lbs.

If what you say is true (its the same as a stock 1g bov), then the unit does leak at idle by design.

yup, unless you don't have the vac line on it shouldn't leak. I have a new oem replacement 1g bov from dealer. Think I put 10 miles on it. $35 if you want it.

i just went out to the car and i was messing with it some more and took off the recirculating tube that goes from the bypass valve to the intake and when i rev the engine no air comes out and when i let off it blows off like it should

so now im really stumped because the car is no where near as fast as it should be

about 2 weeks ago it was pulling pretty hard and now it feels restricted first think i could think of would be a boost leak but thats not it so i dont know what it could be
