leak in the rear differential

Hey guys just got on and am wondering how i could tell if there is a leak in my rear differential. I don't know very much about working on cars and nothing on rwd. how can i check and maybe get a detailed manual seeing as to how i'm a total dink when it comes to this.

that's easy... just clean off the diff really good and thenw atch to see if it leaks... and if it does, just open it and put new rtv gasket on and bolt the cover back on...simple
