leak in front differential (aka front final drive)

I have 2001 QX4 4WD. Is it common to have a leak in the front differential? I may have one. it seems to be extremely slow leak coming from the oil seal that is on the end of the extension tube of the Front final Drive (aka front differential?) on the passenger side.

Wheel works wants $240 to replace it. Im wondering if this is a complicated repair that I should take to a mechanic that specializes in pathy/qx4?
