Ok, so, I want to do some body work. I have some dents and dings, gouges and rust spots. I DO NOT want to do bondo, and I have never messed with lead before. I know that I can but is there any thing that I should know before I start? I think I need 20A and some files? Thanks, Adam.

That's old school. They invented poly resin body fillers for a reason.

If the dings and dents arent that bad, then I would call a paintless dent remover company and have a guy come out and clean up the body the best he can with the tools they use. They are relatively cheap and they do good work. Alot of the dents and dings, I'm gonna bet, can be smoothed out by a paintless dent remover. In South Jersey there is a company called the dent doctor. I had a few acorn dents and two door tap marks on my doors, and they cleaned it up for $150 bucks. Any other dents that are too complicated to get to should be smoothed as best as possible, then bondo, as long as you dont use half the container per dent, it should, with alot of sanding and resanding, be very smooth and ready for some paint.

Dont even mess with the lead. It really does take alot of years just to get it to smooth for you. It'll look like you welded right next to it and let the debris get all over the car.
