Well, I am one of those people who needed tires for my 09 LE already. Found out I had to pay 348 a piece for the oem toyos . I decided not to go down easy and made some calls. I spoke to a tire guy from conrads (a place I usually don't go to but hey desperate times... Right?) anyway, he found some Micheline Latitude touring tires and they were 50/per tire less! So I hope this helps, it stinks to not have a choice and I feel much more confident with the Micheline name (hopefully not misplaced) But they seem like pretty sweet tires azs far as that goes.

What shrice said, Tirerack has tires available for the '09 now. The Yoko Parada has excellent performance, that will be the tire for me. The reviews show better mileage, lower noise, and better handling, all for about $200 each. I wish I already had them on the Mo.

yes i saw the yokos too and spoke with their people who said the release ipushed back until october and then they are already on backorder because of the demand, sooo.. I am curious about those reviews, great deal if you can get them or can wait. I did not have that luxury. Mostly just happy to find something better than toyo.

Mine needs to be replaced at 27000 miles. (Bridgestone)I'm in Canada and I'm shoping for tires right now. I want to buy some winter tires for the 18' OEM rims and thinking to keep shoping around for a set of 20' wheels(rims+tires - OEM '09 LE).I'm looking at Nokian tires for winter and Yokohama Parada Spec-X for the summer tires. (Any other suggestions are welcome)Thanks

Are you guys rotating your tires? That sounds WAY too early to me to be wearing them out.

For comparison, I replaced my original Eagle LS's at 62K miles, and they still had life left in them. Oh yeah - I rotate at every oil change.

I just bought the car like this at 27000 miles: 2 tires are still OK but the other 2 are done. I don't think there were rotated at all.

Yikes - yet another used Mo with some hard miles on it. Tire wear, especially on cars with so few miles, can be a good barometer of how well (or poorly) a car has been treated.

Good luck with this one.

Fast tire wear is not necessarily indicative of hard miles. Many of the high performance all season tires wear very quickly. I had to replace the RX 330 OEM Goodyear Eagle RSA's at about 16k due to wear. These were rotated and pressure checked regularly, wear pattern was even. They just wore out - but boy did they ever have good traction for a very short life span. Of course once they started to really wear they got louder, and snow traction became bloody awful. Here’s hoping that the Toyo’s on the Murano do better.

Hard miles OR the tires not being taken care of (rotated and pressures monitored regularly). Muranos aren't (at least from the factory) high performance cars, and certainly don't come with high performance tires!

Note that I never stated that the Murano was a high performance vehicle, although it sure comes a whole lot closer to that description that the past and current Lexus RX’s. What I stated was that the Goodyear Eagle RSA wore out in 16k miles on my RX. Now if you were to look up those particular Goodyear tires, you would note that they are specifically listed as "High Performance All-Season". The OEM Michelins that also came on the RX’s of that era (and I believ still do) are listed the same way, as high performance all-season (pull up Tire Rack and check for yourself). Academic whether the vehicle is a high performance or not, the HP (and all-season variant) tires give significantly added traction at the penalty of very fast wear. The RX wasn't exactly a barn burner, and I drove one for 5 years, which includes 3 sets of tires, all HPA-S. My concern is that the Toyo Proxes A20 have a bit more life in them than what I had previously experienced with the Goodyears.

Here's another thread on this topic.

zer...-size

Seems like it will be discussed more and more as '09 LE owners near the point of needing tires. If you jump up to a 245/50R-20 you have even more options, but still not as many as I would like. I'd like to see a decent Bridgestone or Pirelli option crop up in the next few months, heck even a Dunlop would be okay with me. At least there are some choices starting to show up though.

As mentioned above, has nothing to do with the vehicle, rather the compound of the tire. My coworker has a BMW 3 series with Mich Pilot Sports. His commute is the same as mine: 60 miles a day 95% of which is highway. His tires last him on average about 14K miles. I ran the Pilot Sport II's on my Acura for 25K and they were slicks. I know others that run max perf summer tires that don't even get 10K miles on a set.

My wife has a little over 13K on her 09 LE and I estimate she will need to replace the OEM's at / by the 30K mark - if we are lucky. In this case it has nothing to do with her driving style or lack of tire care. It does however have a lot to do with our driving environment and tread compound being semi-soft on the OEM Toyo's.

Now sure, poor attention to tire rotation, balance and pressure not to mention a lead foot and/or aggressive driving styles can greatly effect your tire wear. But just because someone is experiencing "quicker" tire wear than what another is doesn't remotely/always represent an "abused" vehicle...

I too am just glad to hear that slowly we are finding/getting more choices than the Toyo's (I'm not a fan of Toyo tires etc).

Cheers all

So sorry you guys are getting your Mos with those Toyos since they apparently are wearing out so quickly. Those of us with the early Mos who got GY LS's got much better tire longevity.

I got almost 5 years (over 60K miles) on my original GY's, and they still had life left in them when I replaced them recently. Though the selection of replacement tires we had in 2004 was slim, by this year there was a large number of 235/65/18's to chose from. I went with the Cooper CS4 touring tires - only $150 each installed and with a great warranty. Of course I don't know (yet) how they will wear, but they look great, have good road feel, and are quieter than the GY's. I'll be happy if the Coopers get me again get over 60K.

I'd be royally PO'd as well if my tires didn't even last 30K miles. That's insane.

Actually short life is pretty common on a 20" tire. I just fitted my '08 Armada with new treads. The Michelins were stock, but were terrible in the snow from day one. They handled very nice on dry pavement, but at about 24,000 miles they were starting to really squeal around corners and you could feel they were riding rough. I now have General HTS Grabbers, what a HUGE improvement!

Agreed, 20" if equipped with any sort of performance tires will wear out in about 20 to 30k given normal driving, proper pressure and rotation. Aggressive driving will tend to wear them out much sooner. I'll be very pleased if I get between 20 and 30k out of our Toyo's. I figure that by then, there should be a lot of choices on the market (we only have 2.5k on our 09). When I do shop, it will be for HP All-seasons, just to provide us with that little edge.

Toyo, Yoko and Michelin are the ONLY choices now for an 09 Murano 20" tire replacement. The Yoko's are cheapest and with a good rating. My tires (Toyos) are already shot at 27,000 miles. Got the car new in early "08.

Five years ago when I bought my 04 SE, the selection of replacement 235/65/18 tires was very limited. I wasn't too worried and just hoped that the choices would be better down the road when I needed tires (I've never got less than 60K miles out of the original tires on any car I've owned).

Sure enough, when I decided (at 61K) to replace my tires recently, there were many to chose from.

I just put the new Yoko Paradas on my '09 Murano after the crappie Toyos died at 27,000 miles. $209 each at NTB (mounted and road warranty $250 each). I NOW HAVE STEERING WHEEL WOBBLE AT 50 MPH. Hope it's just a poor balance job. Had no wobble at all with the worn tires. I did get an alignment while I was there.

Any other thoughts about the wobble?

Wobble at speed, or can you drive out of it? If so, then it almost has to be balance. The only other obvious cause could be a bad belt in one tire, which would show as a vibration/wobble. One other possibility is that when they torqued the lug nuts, they didn't cross tighten and there may be slight warpage to the disc, you could try removing and re-tightening the lugs. Good luck!

Hi Guys,

I just joined the forum today as I was in need of new tires for my 2009 Nissan Murano LE... I got to the 30,000 mile mark and the tread was just too thin looking at another winter ahead...

Anyway, I found this forum and saw what you guys recommended and I think I can recommend one of the better deals out there.. I found a tire recommended by my local Nissan dealer who said it is a nice quite all season tire with 50,000 mile tread.. the tire is a Kumho Solus KR21 size P235/65R18 and he is selling them to me installed for $157/ tire.... this is not bad at all.. If you want to buy them yourself, I also found them on Amazon.com for only $144.99 from Direct buy tire here is the link

http://www.amazon.com/P235-65R18-104T-K ... solus+kr21 (although these links do come down pretty regularly- just go to Amazon and type in: P235/65r18 kumho solus kr21 and it will come right up..

I went to my local tire dealer before finding these and he wanted your standard $392/ a tire... NO WAY... this forced me to look online and call my local dealer to see what to do.. fortunately I have an awesome Nissan dealer who is very helpful and honest and is saving me a ton of money!!

Hope this helps you guys save some cash!! :chuckle:

Why are you installing 18 inch tires on your LE? My 2010 has 20 inch wheels. Did that change between 09 and 10?

Hello,

I am new to the site. I am looking to buy new tires for my 09 Murano LE. I notice there is not much to choose from in the 20" rim size that I have. These other posts are quite old and was wondering if anyone has found a better tire out there yet. I live near Chicago and want a quiet tire that does well in the snow. I Love my Continental DWS tires on my Acura TL for snow, but i do not think a car tire can handle the weight of the Murano + towing a pop-up. I really liked the reviews found at tirerack.com for the "Continental CrossContact LX20 EcoPlus" tires, but they do not make them anywhere near the size I need. I don't mind buying a different size tire as long as it fits on the rim and does not affect the handling of the Murano. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

aj - I purchased a set of 20" Toyo Versado CUV tires from Cassidy Tire (best price I could find). They are fabulous tires. Quiet, good mileage and great wear. I live in Iowa so our weather is the same as yours. No problems with snow either. I have not towed with them, so I can't speak on that. Hope this helps.
