Hi so I bought myself an 06 Infiniti m35 which I love but the ldw camera didnt work from day one. I tried cleaning it and realized there's a gaping hole where its supposed to be. I checked another m35 and lo and behold it had what looked like a white plastic stopper where the cam is supposed to be. How do I replace it myself and can I? Is that lil white plug the actual camera? How do I do this pls? Is there a fuse that controls the LDW that I may need to replace? The light goes on when I press the button but I can't hear anything unless my hearing is that bad. Might as well have a complete Infiniti than a partially working one.

Have you taken a look in the service manual? The FSM is available on this site and will break down most components in the car as well as how to troubleshoot and even remove them.
You can search for this on Google "2006 M35 FSM nicoclub".
I haven't gotten to deal with mine, yet.

so you've had a problem with yours also? Mine looks like it still has the cam unless the white square stopper piece and cam are all in one then I have to get that whole piece. As I said, it's missing altogether which sucks.

further question if anyone knows - can just the camera on the rearview be replaced or do I have to replace the whole mirror? Nissan dealer quoted it costing $1000 for the mirror alone! Any help is appreciated. thx!

Nope, no problems with mine really. I haven't seen too many issues with the LDW system posted here, but I have a car that was going to be stripped over time.
But yes, you should be able to replace only the camera. It's not attached to the mirror.

the manual states that the cam is attached to the rearview interior mirror though and now I just found out from the person that had car last that the replacement windshield and tint on it is obscuring the cam. Now it seems only way to get it working again is to remove tint in that one cam spot I imagine.
damn......

That would make sense. Mine is cutout (had my tinted specifically leave that spot untinted).

You can see it in this image:

The FSM (DI section, page 88) has it as a separate unit, at least for the 2006 vehicles.

The tint would definitely hinder the camera, but you also have to ensure that the replacement windshield has the cutout in the black/blue strip at the top like Ilya's above. You should be able to see the lens/camera when standing in front of the car.
